Mini Vans Anyone?

Ummm…I have to say I’m a little jealous of not being able to drive under overhangs (like garages) these days with the “big old, dang old” truck…

That’s definitely worth something!

I have the Astro, bought used. It is a work horse and a passenger vehicle as well. I leave the seats in and use them like storage racks, make room for the one kid when I have to

It can easily hold about 500-600 lbs, but then the fuel economy goes down. There are some around that have the full on ladder racks. I have / will be modifying my racks this week coming.

That is great. Is that an actual ladder rack or a general use rack? I think I will def buy a caravan for the business. I will vehicle wrap it and let the wife drive it around. Also think I will buy a compact P/U. Maybe a Tacoma if I can find a good price, maybe a Chevy S-10, or perhaps a Chevy Colorado. This will give me a van if I need lockable storage and a small truck with an open bed and good fuel mileage. Hopefully the best of both worlds.

The rack is just a simple Yakima rack with 52" bars. Works great. They do make lots of “actual” ladder racks for the Caravan but they run at least $500. I bought the Yakima rack off of Ebay for $75. Works awesome. I’m getting a vehicle wrap put on this one as well. I’m just working on changing my logo and stuff, then it’s being warped. It looks so much more professional with it wrapped instead of just the window stickers.

Thanks for all the info Jeremy. I really appreciate it.

I like the Astro/Safari van because it’s the only minivan built on a truck frame. The mileage is a little less than a Caravan but you get better storage and hauling capacity. It will be my next van purchase.

I don’t think you would call that a minivan. I think that’s called a truck or van.

Technically it is classed as a minivan but out of most minivans it has the most cargo room and I think largest engine. You can get these with full 8 seats or down to just a plain cargo type van. It’s only when you put it up against a full size van that it appears more like a minivan.

I stand corrected. According to Wikipedia anyway they are called a minivan
