Membrane Question

I recently built my own RO/DI cart and I’m having some flow issues. Wondering if I bought the wrong membrane. It’s a Hydronix BW-4040 2400GPD. I built it based on specs from another window cleaner and he said his worked well. But I’m wondering if I got sidetracked on Amazon and got the wrong membrane.

The RO that is commonly used in system like the Xero Pure and the Tucker Cart has a slightly higher GPD rate, not by much though only 100 gallons. BUT, the more common will make 2500 gpd at only 80 psi.

The unit you have is 2400 gpd at 150 psi. Are you putting 150 psi into the RO?

People will say I’m bias or just an ass but this is why I tell people to just by a system out of the box. Something with a track record and a good company to stand behind it. If there is an issue, its on the company to fix it for you.

Hope this helps.

I completely agree and usually just buy off the shelf for the first one. Had every intention of getting the Tucker cart from you (this is Jordan, btw). But I saw a build in the FB group and realized I had almost everything I needed other than the membrane and housing. I had an extra hand truck in the garage as well as some pex and 1/2” fittings. Figured I’d give it a shot since I’m not out much if I screw it up. It could be anything but I thought I’d start with the membrane.

Well if you want to use that RO, you’ll need to add a pump to have it put out what its intended to do. And be sure you balance it correctly.

I went the DIY route last year. Got a free tucker di tank w pole purchase. But my RO is a pita. Some days it’s 90%+ removal, others it’s 60%. Messes w di. So I second what you say. In the meantime, my stuff works but hoping to get a xero or tucker next year. For the practicality and convenience.
