Major problem using Unger Ninja squeegees

I recently upgraded all my standard squeegees to unger ninja. Bought a 16’’, a 10’’ and a 24’’ just to start. I adore them so far. They’re very comfortable, neat.

One major problem that i have is when i kiss the side of the window i have to clean, one or both of the clip unclip themselves and my rubber slips away. I use a Pulex BOAB. it fits snug in there which I love, and even though I assure the clips are ok after taking it out of the BOAB, when I start using them on the window. They open by themselves.

What kinda trick do you use so they stay clipped tight?

You may want to upgrade to the Unger Ninja BOAB, they made the slots bigger to help with that problem.

If you do a search on this you will discover that you are not by a long shot the first to discover this problem. Chris or Alex will take care of you I’m sure if you bought them here. That I know of Unger hasn’t even acknowledged the problem and this has caused me to become agnostic. I solved the problem by giving mine away. I don’t see why you should need a trick to make a product work properly.

Throw them away abracadabra there gone, buy a reach it Pro system abracadabra you’re back in business!

Love my ninjas, used to have this problem, upgraded to a ninja boab and it helped. Gave it a couple more weeks and I learned how to be more conscious of the squeegee itself, rarely have a rubber slip out now - just took time. I am considering upgrading channels though - I heard the pickle and slayer channels fit in the ninja handle, if you like the handle feel, maybe a different channel is an option. Grab an orange pulex boab, a green pickle channel and pimp that sucker out!

I have the ninja boab, works great with the ninja channels.

I’ve been using a 22" Vader channel with a ninja handle, but instead of the channel guard that comes with the Vader I’ve been using a plastic unger end clip. Works perfect now. The ninja handle is the best wide body channel handle out there right now.

The ninja channels all take a little getting used to, I just use them mostly for straight pulls since I prefer the larger ninjas because they’re so sturdy (I have yet to have any rubber slip outs)

I stopped using the Ninjas because of this. Everytime I wiped my squeegee the rubber fell out. Oh well.

They did my name dirty with that one.

The handle is the best. Couldn’t take the channel anymore. I use the Unger handle with a Sorbo channel for my 24" and 30 ". Anything smaller I use the unger ergo techs.

Take the big Unger clips off - use the sorbo mini clips or Ungers mini plastic clips for holding the rubber in (clipless channel). OK… you have an inch shorter channel, but I’m never going to see my rubber fall out from the top of a ladder again.

I also use the sorbo channel in my ninja handle. Took me 15 years to find a better handle than Sorbo.

Use the Pickle,Vader, or Slayer. My help love the ninja brush handle also.

Hope that helps!

Me too. Ninja handle with Sorbo channels. Love the handle, hate the Ninja channels.

Absolute junk, period. Great handle, but the worst channel I’ve ever tried - hands down. I mean, what the hell is it? It’s massive, and the end clips are a serious head scratcher…

Anyways, ninja handle + slayer/pickle/vader makes a great squeegee for poling large plates. I use this all day long on my commercial jobs. Fanning? Forget it.

As others have mention, swapping out to the Unger green plastic clips works great. And yes you channel will be about an inch shorter but those pesky Ninja clips will never be a problem again. http://windowcleaner.com/vBulletin/wc-equipment-vehicle-setups/15326-unger-ninja-clip-alternative-tool-talk-report.html

Unger conducted a survey about a month ago regarding the Unger Ninja. They asked about their clip design and function. As far as I know they haven’t published the results or their course of action as a result of the survey but they are certainly paying attention to peoples opinions on their product designs.

I reckon the best way to go is unger handles with sorbo cobra channels. They are the ones with plastic ends. The bet any channel out there. Pickle and the rest are just cheap copies

They may be copies but they are far from cheap.
I am sure you have tried them in order to quantify your statement

I just bought 4 ninja setups and have not had a single problem with the channel rubber.

The single slot boabs hold the squeegee much better, although its still a tighter fit, its much better than the three slot boab. other option is to drop $30 on a new unger ninja boab. If they ever come down to the low twenties ill spring for them, otherwise any single slot shiuld work and help with unintended clip releases.

The sorbo and wide body ettore channels fit great too.

Same here. Those locks do come loose pretty easily especially after using for a while. I am always checking on them. Usually 1 gets unlocked but have had the second come loose. Sort of like the movies where the mag falls out of the gun moment. A week or so ago someone mentioned to take the clips off. Big detailing difference. I just did the old piece of zip tie in the end. Liking it a lot more now. Might dip a little dip in plastic coat to cover metal ends.
Like the handle too, although I did modify the tab so it swivels freely if the screw is loosened. Tight, it still holds angle. I even split a small piece of rubber and put 1 top and bottom of channel so clamp holds tight and can use my wagtail, unger, or steccone channels in it.
I use a tool belt with big pouches on the side and used sections of PVC pipe connected and tops sanded smooth, 1" I think. I tried a dab of waterproof adhesive/sealant. Holds well enough. A nice hit will knock it free but for the most part stays and acts like a block or wedge. No epoxy or glue. If they made the slide lock with a little dimple underneath would hold it locked in place better and a bit more force to slide open may be all they need to do.

They aren’t cheap copies they are exact replicas, because sorbo bowed to pressure from suppliers to not sell to WCR.
