LLC majority ownership strategy?

We’re ready to submit the Articles of Organization to form our LLC. My wife and I will be partners, but I’m trying to decide which of us would benefit the company more as a majority owner. She is a minority (Hispanic), while I am a 20% disabled veteran (Caucasian). I’ve read that it is much more difficult to get a business certified as a minority female owned than it is to get certified as disabled veteran owned. Apparently, the Government realized that many contractors were assigning their wives as majority owners and reaping the benefits, while the wives had nothing to do with the business. My wife will be active and involved in the back end of the business, but I’m wondering if its worth the hassle.

I don’t know that it matters much in the overall picture, but if it is relatively painless then it can’t hurt to be certified if we ever decide that Government contracts are worth going after.

Any suggestions?
