Liquidator Issues

In many scenarios I also find that to be true. However The 45 degree angle applies no matter where you are. That mod on any squeegee will cut way back on soapy edges. We have really started liking them primarily on houses. For instance this past week we did a house full of triple track storm windows. You know the old aluminum frames with almost no edge. No detailing required with the liquidator. Saved us 30 minutes. Rags were still dry at the end of the job.

What I’m saying is not a negative about the liquidator, I personally love the tool and use it everyday, that was more or less for the gripes people have towards it.

Plain and simple it wasn’t designed for our markets, the UK market is primarily an exterior only, casement market, with regular cleaning schedules 4/6/8 weeks from what I’ve read. So the tool is going to work best in that location since it was made for those styles of work.

I agree with your statement, which is why I haven’t been too vocal about not liking them. To each their own.

Not trying to sound all high and mighty… but all the mods and learning needed to correctly use the Liquidator are more bother that they’re worth for me. I don’t have too much of a problem with leftover solution on the pane anyways. Even with the minimal solution left over by the Liquidator, I still need to wipe it down, so there’s no real point in changing my 16-year-habitual techniques to be able to use it.

This old dog is always down to learn a new trick, but I also know when to keep it at the “old” tricks.

I had a problem with the handles The wheel tightening wasn’t tightening up the handle after a few hours working it kind it was wobbling so I had to send that one back I don’t know if anybody else had that issue I never really got to use the tool that much because I just started crapping out after An hour or two

If an ettore rubber is only lasting you one day… That’s STRUGGLIN.

You guys who change your rubber everyday kill me… Such a waste.

I have to say I think my rubbers are actually lasting a little bit longer using the liquidator. I cut them about 1/32" shorter than the tip of the clip on each side. It’s almost always been the corners that get chewed up first on my blades but this seems to make them last even longer than my Sorbos.

I have been using my liquidator for two days now and hate it. I’ve used Moreman, ettore, and pulex rubber. Pulex is by far the best but it still jumps. And there is too much resistance against the glass. I also can’t seem to close out a window to save my life. I’m still willing to give it a shot but it is really slowing me down. Maybe it’s just too light for me. I went back to my standard ettore channel and felt like I was squeeging faster than ever… I need advice too

What handle are you using? Increasing slip in water will help the jumping until you sort your technique adjustment. Also nipping in the back of the clips (soften with boiling water) so that the rubber is kept secure is another one I do. I’ve got them working fine with their own handles and on Wagtail handles…

I’m using Unger clipless handle. But I hate that handle. It’s just too light. I did pinch the clips. And is there something else that works better than Dawn?

I mix ECover and IPA (Isopropyl Alcohol) 50/50. Great for bee gook and adds extra slip. Unger handle is 30 degrees. The Moermans are 40 degrees. I personally don’t get on with the Unger handle with Liquidator.

So what handle do you use?

Both Moermans for fixed and Wagtail PC for 14" swivel/pivot.

I know it’s up for debate but I straightened my end clips a bit and it made all the difference in the world. The type of sill that requires that extreme dog ear is super rare here. And yes I agree you need to use more soap than usual. I actually apply dawn or Ecover directly to strip washer. I love it.

Ok so I’ve found the sweet spot with my liquidator. I do love it. But now I have another question. Has anyone tried using the liquidator channel without the clips? I typically use a 16" channel so one day I took the end clips off my 18" and put in a 16" rubber and found that the channel is lightning fast. I actually struggled to control it at first because it glided so well.

So you turned your awesome liquidator into a standard channel?

There are always issues when new tools first come out, I am sure the kinks will get worked, eventually

Spare clips available Chris?

I don’t have tea cups and saucers - will a coffee cup work? I guess I could kill 2 birds with one stone and just drop a clip in my coffee.

If you get the paz kit upgrade you can change the color of your clips:

been using a 14 inch as my main squeegee since they came out. love the no detailing ooo yes but i dont actually enjoy using the liquidator , its hard to explain but you have to concentrate when using it especially on the top line. ]
the tips catch on the frame rubbers as i cut the top line if i dont pay attention. also i have to apply a fraction more hand pressure than when using a regular chanel this is wearing after a while
