Liquidator Issues

Hey guys, I got my new liquidator channels 10" and 14" from WCR today but I’m having some issues. I noticed they tend to jump a lot so I looked at the channels and noticed both of them had the issue where the rubbers are bent out of shape (pictured). I switched the rubbers to the Ettore masters and still had the same problem, so I don’t think it’s that.

Check it out, is it a simple fix of just mending them in boiling water and letting it cool?

Polzn Bladz had the drastic angle to accommodate a specific type of sill that he ran into a lot in the UK. In my experience here in the US, that sill is very rare and I have found it beneficial to modify my end clips by straining them. There is still a little bit of a learning curve when it comes to using the liquidator. Overall, I use these things every day and still geek out on how amazing the results are on so many different types of windows. I literally clean a window, step back and look at how perfect the edges are with no detailing needed and catch myself with a cheesy smirk on my face via my reflection in the glass.

I would just modify them was boiling water or heat gun until it feels good. I gave it a good run the way it came but this is pretty much what I ended up doing. Now I love it

Thanks a lot Bob. I’ll give it a go. Was hoping I could go full tilt right out of the box but that seems to rarely be the case with a lot of window cleaning gear!:stuck_out_tongue:

Same here. I bent them and they work great. The only problem I have with the channel is due to the tip being the first thing hitting the frames, if they are a little rough, the rubber wears out in like 30 min and starts to leave lines behind from the rubber tip being slightly worn. I have been using them for 2 weeks now and besides that, the no detail is great. I use ettore rubbers in them. So today I went back to my brass ettore channel and it was like butter. Hmmmm. So smooth. Now I’m torn. Anyone else have this problem?

I just realized the clips weren’t on properly out of the box, oops. Lol

What do you mean?

It just felt really good, didn’t skip, very little detailing, and the rubbers lasted the entire day/ if I’m lucky 2. Just wondering if this channel is the be all and end all or just another fad.

 I was just about to point that out to you…how did I know…because I took mine off, put them back on and messed up one exactly like that…the Moerman rubber is soft, so needs more slip in hot weather and does wear quickly at the edges especially on wooden frames with no seals. I use Facelift Razer Red and it’s bulletproof. I hear Ettore and Pulex are good also. If you’re getting a lot of skipping check that the end clips are holding the rubber really snugly. If they aren’t dip clips in boiling water and pinch the BACK of the clip in until rubber is held firmly.

I was having problems as well. Bob told me I needed more slip in my solution. He was right! Works great now.

The only complaint I guess I have, if you can call it a complaint, is that the soapy water seems to run down the squeegee on to your hand more so than any other I have ever used. I guess it makes sense because it’s not letting the water seep out the edge of the channel against the frame and instead is forcing it back toward the center of the channel. You just have to be careful it doesn’t run down and drip off the handle when you’re inside someone’s home.

It was my first week with the liquidator and struggled with roll marks/skipping. I should try adding more slip.

I was very impressed with how good combo storm windows turned out.

Rubber edges also wear out easy with rough frames. There’s definitely some pros and cons. I’m thinking it’ll be a good squeegee to have on certain jobs, but not all.

We were having major issues with the rubber sliding out using the Moerman ergo handle. I switched it to an Ettore handle with teeth and it is way better, no sliding out the sides of the channel.

I to have been frustrated with skipping, leaving water behind and fast wear down on edges. When you have employees and have been doing this for years you don’t have time or patience to alter or modify each blade. I feel as a company we love new gadgets but after a few days we all decided we were done with this squeegee.

whenever i say “we will clean these by hand” i now just say, we will “liquidate these windows!”

hahaha anyways i prefer a hard rubber, it lasts longer then the soft rubber which lasted about three houses. when using hard rubber use a little more soap then normal. i also prefer holding it with the thumb over the top verses the index finger. You will get a smoother slide imo.

Couldn’t have said it better myself.

Sorry but out of the box, they are dog eared way too much. I had to slow down quite a bit to help prevent it from hopping and leaving marks, and even then it still would produce inconsistent results. I gave it a solid go for a few days even though I could tell they were dog eared far too much. Boiled the ends and pulled them back closer in line with the channel and it’s a hell of a lot better.

Having to detail edges less is obviously nice, but not if it increases cleaning time. Detailing only takes a few seconds.

I find it fascinating that some of us get on with it almost immediately with slight changes in technique and others can’t seem to make it work. It seems this is a product that is either “great” or “crap”. Very strange. Personally I love them. They perform, for me, exactly as promised. I have 2 14"s so I straightened the clips on one of them and almost immediately reheated and put them back to where they were. I’ve got them working perfectly on Moermans own handles (40°), dislike them on the Ettore or Unger handles (30°) and have a 14" absolutely singing on a modified Wagatail PC handle and disc (20°). Moerman soft rubber has lovely glide but wears quickly and doesn’t like warm glass in the hotter temps. I personally use the Facelift Razer Red but good results come from Ettore and Pulex. Unger is problematic because it’s fractionally narrower than the others. Rubber has to be sitting ABSOLUTely flush at the end of the clips…

It was a tool designed by a UK window cleaner for a UK market.
