License NY State and charging tax

Hello, I am new to the window cleaning. I am in Western NY and wondered if I have to charge customers tax, and also, do I need to be licensed. I did the DBA, I meant to ask at the county clerks office about the licensing, but I forgot because I felt bad for getting there close to when they were closing. I can’t find any helpful information online about tax or licensing. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I used to service eastern NY Orange County. We did have to collect and report sales tax. I believe I paid quarterly.

Taxes are so different in different states. Here in Florida we only charge Sales & Use Tax for commercial work.
Found this with a simple Google search. Just to be sure I would ask your City tax office on Monday.
Window cleaners tax?

Yes
I am in the Hudson valley area
Sales tax are different by certain counties .Charge the right amount and it’s done quarterly.I have a DBA and guess when you file with NY state for sales tax you get one of these. My acct set it all up
Good Luck

You live in the most anti-business State in America so of course there will be sales tax. Lots of other taxes and hidden fees as well, so I would recommend having a good sit-down meeting with a CPA before you get started. Have a long list of questions prepared before you go. The last thing you want to do is piss off Emperor Cuomo’s regime.

Charge all fees to the customer. They add up in places like that.

Thank you all for your responses
