Nice! Keep using the pole. It doesnā€™t take long before you will start to get the hang of it. Once you do you will use it all the time and will rarely ever use your ladder on commercial jobs. It will cut your time in half on larger two story commercial jobs.

I remember the first two story window I poles 20 years ago. I couldnā€™t close them out either. I used the long pole on the top part and then shortened the pole and fanned the bottom part. The higher the windows you start polling the lower other high windows will seem to you and polling will become more and more comfortable. I can very effectively pole jobs now that I would have never touched with a pole years ago.

Great job!

Itā€™s not about the legs but rather that putting it at an angle swings you out closer to the window. You can used it the way the guy is using it in the video but when your only doing one window itā€™s better to put it on the corner so you are more in front of the window and donā€™t have to reach out.

In the video though the guys has it right. He is not doing one window. He is doing several windows side by side and putting it up against the wall in between the windows allows him to get the glass on both sides of the ladder. Leaning it on the corner is more for when you are doing windows only on one side of the ladder.

Dang that was amazing! Now I wanna see him do it with stack ladders lol

So another update I wanted to shareā€¦

I hadnā€™t gotten a response to my apology + invoice email and was worried that maybe they were furious Iā€™d even send an invoice at all. I also worried they never got the email and have been kicking around that I should call the only number I had, which wasnā€™t the manager that I worked with.

Well, this morning the manager called me. GULP.

He asks if I sent an invoice and immediately I thought, ā€œOh noā€¦that means he didnā€™t even get my apology. He must think I just bailed!ā€ I mention the email and that I really wanted to speak in person to him but was also trying to think what else I could do to make the situation right. I apologize again and mention that the invoice didnā€™t include the outside work that didnā€™t turn out good.

Then he says that yes, he got that one, but what about an invoice for the outside. I again say that Iā€™m not going to charge for the outside. He says, ā€œWell, it was an improvement. Send me an invoice.ā€ I again decline saying I donā€™t feel good about doing low quality work. He says it was an honest effort and again asks that I send an invoice. I expressed concern that it messed up their enjoying the parade and he said no, the windows were improvedā€¦send an invoice.

I just canā€™t get over how nice this guy was. And to top it off, after I said to please let me know if thereā€™s anything I can do, he said theyā€™ll definitely keep me in mind. Wow. What a relief. I had been pretty bummed about the whole thing, but looks like itā€™s a happy ending.

Thought Iā€™d shareā€¦you guys bore with me through the bad, you should get to hear the good too. :sunglasses:

Thereā€™s an expression i use often, ā€œlet it come to youā€.

I know the feeling Daniel. You feel like a heel taking the money. But also realize the feelings on the other end. Most people feel like a heel allowing someone to do work and then not paying them, especially a fellow business owner may feel that way.

Great ending to the story and much relief to you! Thanks for sharing!

See the bar i was talking about always whacking my knee or shin off when i first started using it?

I could see how hitting that bar would be a problem at first. I love that ladder! How much? How tall?

Thanks for the picture. I saved it.

They donā€™t have ladders like that here in the US, that is cool.

Are the rungs Square?

That ladder deserves its own topic!

When it comes to window cleaning the guys in the U.K. are leaders of the pack. Some day maybe if we are lucky someone will make European ladders for the USA market.

PS
Someone who isnā€™t afraid of getting sewed. HaHa
