I’ve never used the green one, but like the way the extensions are external on the blue ones. I prefer internal for multi-section poles, but dig the external barrel twist on the unger.
Are tip specs different for the green (pro), vs. blue (diyish)? Maybe the aluminum quality?
You will probably only notice a difference past 12 or 15 feet if my memory serves. I used to have a big Green opti loc pole that got lost somehow. Seems to me the blue poles I played with at HD are much less rigid when you get up toward second story height. Could just be my faulty memory though. For storefront work the blue HD poles are fine.
The blue ones from Home Depot are less rigid at heights above 18ft, have a fixed pole tip that can’t be replaced and the locking collars can’t be replaced. A cheap buy but if they break, you’ll have a tough time finding a way to fix them. The Unger Optiloc and Teleplus poles will last as long as you want as all parts are available for replacement.
My main purpose with the blue one is to drag debris toward me when cleaning gutters with it’s 18 foot reach. Once I used for inside windows that would require my extension ladder inside. It worked okay, but flexy.
I have both the Unger Opti-loc and the Ettore Blue. I prefer the opti-loc over the blue if you are actually using the handle lock buttons instead of just a friction hold on the squeegee. The Blue was a pain to disengage to change between a mop and a squeegee and left me frustrated and my thumbnail in bad shape by the end of the day. The opti-loc has a push button to release the lock.
Anymore, I just use friction to hold the tool on. I haven’t had many occasions where I need to extend the pole for more than a couple feet so I can’t say one is more rigid than the other in use, but I have extended both and find they are both pretty flimsy at length.
One thing the green pole’s tip is easily replaceable. If the blue one breaks/wears out its supposed to be done. A little creativity can probably figure out how to adhere a green tip onto a blue pole.
I’ve got all the opti locks up to the 5 banger. the blue HD ones cant compete with the opti locks. I tried the blues a while back and it ended up I’m my shed for painting purposes.
