Is hiding your prices on your website smart or an insecurity

Is hiding your prices smart or is it an insecurity with people who are not confident enough to show them. I would love to have my prices shown to the general public to save time on quotes and to get rid of the low paying customers.

My concern with using responsibid or with having pictures of different window styles with dollar amounts near them is two things. One the customer is not going to read the paragraph that says this is to provide a rough estimate not an exact figure and when the price is higher I am going to have someone upset that never would have been if I didn’t show pricing. Also bucket bobs are gonna pop up left and right going oh this guy is having success I’m gonna beat it by $2 bucks a window then another bob is gonna beat him by $2 bucks. The other side of this coin is A. those guys often go out of business and B. if there not using a proper crm cystem, doing quality work, having the personal skills that I have, mastering customer relationships etc it doesn’t matter what they charge. It takes a lot more to run a business then going and underquoting someone you see having success. Post or don’t post prices?

Don’t worry about the “other guy” too much. Just as an example, I started my business 4 years ago. There were already window cleaning companies and window cleaners in my area. Last year in Residential Window Cleaning alone we did $350,000. All the other window cleaners in my area are still in business.

Also don’t worry about ResponsiBid posting your prices. It will give the customer a final price, not an itemized list of what each square inch of glass costs to clean :grinning:. For the most part customers just want the work done. Most customers won’t analyze your quote and reverse-engineer it to find out what your specific pricing structure is. Think of yourself, how often do YOU do that when you are a consumer?

every time. but usually when I discovered that they have a high hourly I think “good for you”

Absolutely not. No way I would show any prices, because NOTHING is homogenous here. Every house is different, and there are a couple dozen different window types.

so you think posting something like this with dollar signs and a paragraph that basically states bids confirmed in person is a bad idea

No, we have something similar on our website. It gives the customer an idea what they have when I talk it over with them on the phone. I just don’t give a definite price online what each window costs, either a phone or in-person estimate is done after I get a feel for what I’m getting into.

Ask this: do I want to snag customers because of my competitive prices or because there is something they trust about my company before even having us show up? I don’t have a problem posting my minimums on my website. I never actually implemented Responsibid, but if I do in the future, I will have no problem with giving prospects an idea of my pricing.
