So, if you could only pick one, would you choose having a website or a Facebook page?

•BOTH I have a website with general info and I update with pictures. I use FACEBOOK to connect with family friends and even CUSTOMERS. SOCIAL MEDIA is what majority of population uses.

Vehicle wrap or logo shirts?

• good logo shirts that stand out. Looks professional and people will come up and ask for a card more often.

Wrap or lettering?

•Wrap when you have the money and business more established. I do not agree with those who want to stay ghost. That’s not good marketing/advertising. You drive around job to job and people will notice. It’s about presence and making yourself known in your location.

Only residential or only storefront?

•RESIDENTIAL

What are your reasons?

•Residential is one spot at a time for a bigger price. You don’t go through as much squeegee rubbers or gas. You build clients through word or mouth by the quality you present. I made just last week $800 for one house. Took the entire day though you would on average have to drive stop to stop for storefronts consuming gas and time. You can add gutter cleaning, pressure washing, house washing and window cleaning.

Either Customer Factor, Joist, or Housecall Pro?

•quickbooks works great for me. I just did a demo on “HOUSECALL PRO” it’s impressive though pricey. $39 month to month on the lowest plan or you can pay for the year and get it for a little cheaper.

EDDM or door hangers?

•Door hangers though you’d have to pass out at one neighborhood at least 3 times. Once they’ll throw it out, twice they’ll look at it for a little, 3rd you’ll grab some possible clients. Get some calls. Vista print has affordable options if you already have a design.

Also for everyone I suggest reading “GRANT CARDONE- SELL OR BE SOLD BOOK

1 Website - a more professional online presence and you can make it as your needs fit.

2 logo shirts - you have to ID who you are and with when introducing yourself. Shirts help look more legit.

3 lettering - wraps are more expensive LOL.

4 Store fronts - this was tough but its bread and butter in the winter and if you go to sell your business it’s worth more than a list of people who MAY want you again.

Hope this helps someone.

Have a logo with your lettering though. It helps brand your business and stand out.

Website.
-Unless you’re baller at Facebook sponsored posts it won’t bag as many customers as it will people who wanted to see your pic so they clicked it and it cost you. People who click on your Google ad very likely searched something like ‘window cleaning’ and your website can quickly lay out info like services, contact info, etc

Vehicle wrap or logo shirts?
Logo Shirts. I have never advertised on me vehicle so can’t speak to its effectiveness but I think a uniform adds to your professional appearance.

Wrap or lettering?
Probably pick the wrap but no good reason aside from it looks more expensive, thus as the potential customer I subconsciously think “more money spent, makes more money, must do more work, people must like them, I’ll call”

Only residential or only storefront?
Perfect world? Storefront. With 6-8 hrs a day booked on good routes.
Real life? Residential. Good hourly rates, 1 big house a day or 2 small ones will pay the bills.

What are your reasons?

Share any idea you can think of. You shy people, you lurkers, we want to hear from you too.

Either Customer Factor, Joist, or Housecall Pro?
Never used any but would like to learn more.

EDDM or door hangers?
EDDM. Less time invested. Time is the one resource you can not get more of.

That’s a good one so many variables!

Change “or” to “vs” @Davis or @TheWindowCleanse won’t use it man…

I am pretty picky like that.

Sales/marketing skills, all day. You could clean glass with a burlap sack and rubbing alcohol and people would still give you the “come to my house” line.

So true…

Here is a topic that I would like to hear/read people’s opinions on…

  • Subcontractor business owners vs solo operators business owners

What I mean for clarification is pros/cons as a subcontractor you show up and do the scope of work asked for a certain % (more then an employee.) VS A solo operator that has to wear all the “hats.”

Good subject. The answer depends on the integrity of the main contractor vs the ‘deal direct’ client’s integrity. My brother worked as a subcontractor for 10 years. He gave up because so many (construction industry) main contractors operated a ‘pay when paid’ policy. That practice removes their risk entirely. The main contractor should take any late payment risk. Too often the subby is last in the queue and gets paid late or even doesn’t get paid at all when the main contractor shuts down. Maybe the UK is worse than US of A.

Thanks for insight.

Yes. I’d pick sectional ladders over extension ladders every time. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
