I got my first customer!

Hey guys so today I got my first customer they just called and scheduled for early next week. Outside only $30 first clean $25 maintenance cleans they should be on a monthly schedule. However there’s always a catch. They just called and mentioned that they just had some signage installed on the bottom of all the windows and doors. I asked what kind of signage and they said it was like a big decal or sticker they glued onto the glass, and they made a mess. Of course they installed the signage on the exterior of the glass. I have yet to see what they did as when I quoted it there was nothing but glass.

So has anyone ever come across signage/stickers on the exterior of a store? What do I need to know about them? For example do they scratch easily will dawn or gg4 make they fade or make they peel? Is there a special tecnequic for mopping or squeezing around or on the signage? Below is a pic of how it looked when I quoted

Thanks
Brian

Will need a picture of signage, but typically, it’s no big deal.
If it’s perforated signage, then I advise against washing over it.

I will try and get pics as soon as possible. Why would you advise against it? Not to sound stupid but how would you clean that portion of the glass than if you can’t wet or mop it? Do it just skip that portion of the window?

Thanks
Brian

Squeegee doesnt pull water from the holes in perf signage. So youd have to wipe it down with a towel or youd see the soap residue after it dries.
Cheaper stuff seems to fade a lil bit with every wash, as they get sun beaten, they turn somewhat chalky so it can be frustrating. Being newly installed you shouldnt have that prob

You can buy gallon(s) of distilled water and one of those handheld pesticide spray pumps at home depot. Instant pure water rinse. Done well, it takes care of the soap residue and dries spotless. They changed the deal, don’t be afraid to mention extra work, extra money.

Thanks for the tip. So other than spraying with distilled water and letting it dry on its own. If I went the traditional route if they put signage on the lower half would you just skip all the lower halfs and just do the top halfs ?( mop and squeegee like normal)

If its perforated i wouldnt wet it, just wipe it down. After a while the edges will turn brown because water gets trapped. I’ve seen it alot on widows from previous cleaners.

You will be fine. Try not to stress!

So I took a ride over there and all they did was install vinals lettering on the exterior. So it shouldn’t be to much different than if they weren’t there. Is there anything I should watch out for.

Those are fun! I try to just pull straight across without fanning and try not to push too hard. A magic eraser helps gets the spots from the water dripping

Just clean as normal and squeegee, then take a dry detail towel and wipe over the lettering in soft circular motions to catch the drips and :::BAM::: you’re done.

As far as the perforated signage for future reference, I clean as normal and squeegee, then take a folded over detail towel and wipe over the whole thing in circular motions, flipping the towel to a dry side until done.

Just use less pressure with applicator/squeegee when going across them and like others said gently dry them afterwards.

I always run my hand across them before starting so that if there are any that are damaged or loose, i can show the customer before i start.

The tiny letters are the ones to be most cautious of.

This is why we charge a fair price for our services, and the ones who undercut price don’t.
