How would you add 100 customers?

for me, i use customer factor to tell me how many new clients added during a certain period usually over the year multiplied by my average sale so it averages out. then determine cost including total for advertising targeted at new customers (i advertise to existing customers separately). some magic math to determine cost per new customer as dollar and as % of sale.

Track your advertising when people call you. Use that data and your advertising costs to get that number.
For example:
You bring in 500 new customers. You spent $15,000 in advertising to obtain those customers.
$15,000/500 = $30 per customer you spent. You can break that down for each form of media that you use.

This is a great thread to read, just thought I would say it now.

I added ultrasonic blind cleaning when no one else advertised it. Easiest up sell for window cleaning I’ve found, but expensive to get into. Close to building a nice pressure washer set up, it seems like. Went from subcontracting/almost closing my doors to adding a gross average of $12,000-15,000 a month for 6-8 months out of the year in the last 2 years with me, a part time helper and a full time receptionist. Only use Facebook and Adwords Express. No postcards or flyers.

However, I’m still very dissatisfied by the growth I’ve had this year. We usually book 4-5 customers a day, but I am having a hard time even keeping my part time guy busy. And the cost of advertising and employees are really discouraging. I guess that’s what happens when you try to “destress” by having others pick up the workload. Catch 22 for me. Might have to pound the pavement for the first time.
