How to talk to the customer

Usually with women I talk about my kids , with men you can’t go wrong with sports or what local restaurants they like .

If you can’t find what to talk about , there’s always the weather

Ah sure its grand weather out there for the time of year! We’ve been very lucky this winter! Ah sure its great to see a stretch in the evenings now.Thats some good drying weather out there! If you’re irish you’ll definately get these ha.

actually i do, i also work to develop a closer longer term relationship both of which are traditionally associated with a client.
there are several definitions nowadays which describe them as virtually interchangeable.

the day after the election i did ask a few people “so was yesterday a good day or a bad day for you?”

Ah yes, redefinition of words. Forgot about that.

yes the constant evolution of language.
" man that’s bad"
"excuse me do you mean bad as in bad or bad as good?"

Rules of inflection.

Ya, I get a kick out of some locals who freely use the term client in place of customer to their cleaning service.
Oh, and ‘associate’ for department store employee. That always gets me.

no clue what flavor the kool-aid is.

I would add without reading replies.

  1. Naturally it’s client specific. Some are chatting, some are working, some are insane

  2. There is a difference between owner and employee and personality of the tech makes a huge difference

  3. Best to always play it safe and never share personal items.

Fun story: 2014; after a meeting about client interaction and looking for items to connect with clients or start conversations. One guy said “nice truck”. Was some 1950’s thing all done up and purdy. We got a call at the office “If my truck is stolen I know who it was”. SMH
