Agreed. Iā€™d get soft and spoiled. Winter does for me, what it does to the land, gives it a break to be productive in the on-season. Also, makes you as tough as nails.

Youā€™d get soft and spoiled working year round? Thats not my experience. Honestly I feel very blessed to have year round work. My bills donā€™t stop coming in the winter and my top employees need hours or id lose them. Not that I dont like taking breaks but thatā€™s what weekends are for. Ill rest when Iā€™m dead or when Iā€™m busy enough to be out of the field.

You sound like a Scotsman!

Naw, I like the climate and scenery. I just meant Iā€™d rather deal with subzero weather than have to deal with the California government to run my business. See also the thread about the State Fund.

California is a great state with some great people, but their government is a bunch of wackadoodles. It has a wealth of resources that they canā€™t touch because of the environmentalists, it has a great climate to grow anything they want but is hampered by environmentalists, it has great forests which burn down every year because of environmentalists, and has the largest amount of poverty in the country.

ā€œin some cases, individuals with incomes 200% above the poverty line receive benefits. California state and local governments spent nearly $958 billion from 1992 through 2015 on public welfare programs, including cash-assistance payments, vendor payments and ā€œother public welfare,ā€ according to the Census Bureau. California, with 12% of the American population, is home today to about one in three of the nationā€™s welfare recipients.ā€
