How to remove paint without a razor

We just got our first construction clean

We’ve passed on them for 2 years but for some reason today I thought “i doesn’t hurt to take a look”

the price for our regular window cleaning for this house would be $255 but she agreed to $650 for the CCU, I think that will give us plenty of time to go slow and be careful.

All the windows are tempered glass, and almost all of them have paint on the inside and some outside and most of the outsides have concrete/mortar on them. I’m going to buy titans cement off for the cement/mortar, but what is the best way to remove all the paint over-spray without a razor?

A razor is your best friend in a CCU…but if you can’t use them for some reason or another and it is just over spray I would typically use 0000 steel wool. I have been using Ronsonol lighter fluid and steel wool to remove some silicone smears. That stuff dissolves silicone instantly without being too hard on vinyl frames. Maybe it can dissolve paint?

If you use some titan cement off please let me know how that stuff works out. We get so much concrete on the back slider doors off of the patios from when the steps get poured and I hate working that off of the glass. You’d think after a while the builder would cover the doors when they pour…

… Ever try Mr Clean Magic Eraser? I love them for silicone smears. No fuss, no muss…

Or even a damp microfiber works…easy peasy on silicone/smears

we use magic erasers every day, what i’m really concerned about is the paint, there are some window that almost look frosted because of all the overspray

Hope this post from @thorSG1 helps!

i was just about to read that but got distracted

Paint remover, I have always thought about it after the fact, just gotta see if it damages the seals/rubbers, or maybe protect them like when using acid you sprinkle bicarb on the bottom frame to neutralize the acid.

Here’s a little secret that may help.

Call the manufacturer. Ask them.

Tell them you have several solvents at your disposal such as OilFlo, Goo gone and Goof Off, Denatured alcohol etc. Ask them what they recommend, but also ask them if they’re good with PROPER use of blades.

Another little secret for ya, the one inch razors are sometimes better.

Why? Less of a chance of a nick in the cutting edge of the blade as opposed to a 4 or 6 inch razor.
Only use it when you have to.

After that, then you make your judgement call and run it by the the General Contractor or the woman you are talking about and give them the choice.

Your price may be too low.

Here’s a good way of pricing a CCU:

Find the worst window and clean it as a demo. Time yourself. Vacuum the track, clean the frame. Dial it in the way you want the end result to look. How long did that take you? Multiply that times the number of windows. Now you have your labor and once you have that number multiply that by 2. There’s MY price.

Don’t be afraid to get to the bottom of an unsolved problem. Call a cement company and ask them if there is an easy to find solvent that will get their crap off your window without destroying it. You might find out something interesting.

…or how about baby powder on your finger? rolls off the glass like a buger.

This is the stuff that drives me crazy. Paint over spray.
I don’t understand for the life of me why painters aren’t held responsible
A simple procedure of covering the glsss with plastic. SMH

There should be a seprate price for paint removal. Give them the invoice n say give this to your painters.
" here ya go to clean the windows it will be 650.00. To get the paint off 650.00"

While you are buying Titan Cement Off, buy Titan Oil-Flo too.
The Oil-Flo will take the paint off really quick if it is new, and after a few moments of dwell time if the paint is old.
You don’t need a whole lot, just enough to wet the painted areas; a white scrubber or 0000 steel wool, or brass wool will do the rest.

Agreed. Very effective for paint.

I charge my regular clean price plus add on paint removal price on however many windows need it. (Depends on one side or if both sides need it).

…Works great, I always have it around. It’s stinky, messy, greasy on the glass, will stain concrete, bare wood and composite decks.
Other than that, I love the stuff.

All the more reason to use it sparingly. Your supply lasts longer and you only need to use what you actually need for the application.

Separate line item … perfect.
Let’s the payee know the painter cost you this.

I’m with ya. Oil Flo all the way.

Only issue with that stuff is,
Make sure when you store it, the bottle is upright, after the seal is broken that stuff has a way of getting out of the bottle even if the caps on. Really weird.

Yes! You only make that kind of mistake once.
