How skilled should I be before going and bidding jobs?

Basically I have only practiced doing my own windows at apartement. I don’t have the skills to be quick yet but can get the window clean.

I gave away free cleanings to family members to get a sense of a variety of panes, screens is goin to be the biggest variable along w decals. Once youve encountered those problems you will have a sense on how to approach them in the future

  1. Be skilled 2) Be quicker 3) Gain experience
The more you bid, the more work you will get. Just take your time initially and leave when you are happy to. Ask the customer to sign off the work before you leave. After a short while you won’t feel the need to as you will be confident.

I cleaned my own windows twice and my sisters once, then went out later that week for my first job. Small house inside and out, $96 - plus I had just been released by my doctor to ease into work after breaking my back in a mountain bike accident 4 months earlier.
I believe I did a good job and got better over the years from practice.
You can do it, just do it.

I had maybe 15 - 16 days working for a company before I went out on my own.

Just go for it. I washed the windows on my house ordered cards and stuck them in doors of houses I felt comfortable with. That was 13 years ago things turned out well

As long as your results are passable then there is no reason not to go make some money. From now on you get paid to practice.

Just go get your feet wet…

The water’s nice.

Just NO cannon ball’s off the high dive…

Depends on how hungry you are and how much food is in the fridge.

When there ain’t no food left, you would be surprised how quickly you’ll figure things out.

Just do it.

Favorite tv show, when I was a kid.

Just remember, when they don’t clean windows, you are the expert. If I have to re-do a window 3 or 4 times, that’s okay. When I leave, they’re done right. Learn to make perfect windows and you will have a quality product to sell.

Jonathan, you are now skilled enough to go bid on work. Remember, every job and window is a practice session. No two jobs or windows are the same. Take each one as it comes. You are the professional: that means you clean windows and get paid for it. That’s what we do. You can do this. I am new to this site and the business also. Enjoy the journey. Do searches in that little window by the Window Cleaner.com Logo. Anything you can think of is answered there. This is a great site. Make us proud and let everybody know what’s going on. They will help you. Thanks :+1:

I literally woke up one day thinking of an easy business to start as a hobby, decided on windows. I sized up the competition, devoured hours of youtube videos, cleaned my own windows for practice and in 2 days had my first paying job. Now 1.5 years later I’m on track to grossing $30k and went to part time at my “real” job to devote more time to windows. As mentioned- have the confidence to be the expert- every job learn something new. The beauty of windows is that a good job is obvious if the window is clean and the customer is happy. However most people can or could clean their own windows SO sell yourself and your service! if your honest, fair, punctual and friendly you will succeed!
