I was just wondering how often you guys buy new boabs. I’ve been using the same one for years and it keeps going strong. As long as the rivits stay fast to the nylon I’ll keep using it. They do get nicked and bugged up though.
So how many years do you rock the same one before it’s time for a change out?
Same as you. Once the rivets go, I get a new one.
The ninja’s are pretty good. You’ll get a good year out of them before you have to start “maintaining them.”
Just burn down the jagged parts with a lighter to prevent rubber nicks (not too much or you’re mess it up - just a light kiss). I’ve gotten several years out of a ninja.
If the buckle goes, then I toss it. Or with pulex, the rivets (although a zip tie will work better than the rivets, it’s usually time to toss the bucket).
Typically when the zip tie breaks after the rivets already fell apart months prior. 
They usually last a season for me. Sometimes I get a new one to tryout well before I need to. But I like to try different tools. For a while I was on a wagtail kick, and now Moerman.

We get 1 1/2 - 2 years out of the Ettore. Usually it’s the clip that goes and it’s really not worth a repair or part replacement. $30 for that time on a tool is good for me.
Purchase? I just swipe from the fish guys truck when hes not lookin.
If you’re gonna rock the red FISH bucket you may as well follow him on his route, then make all his stops for him next time around.
I did just take two of his accounts. I changed my laundry guy and got his windows and the dry cleaner next door that fish was doing for 8$ each. I charge em both 15 , and gets my towels washed fo free.
I do rock an old purple bucket from my genie days. Slapped some vinyl with my logo on it tho .

Desert sand probably won’t happen right away. Not sure how many people want that color. Black, red, blue, green to start.
Oh, and I need to make it in such a way that you’ll want to buy a new one every couple months… 
C’mon, daddy needs a new(er) truck! And injection molds are crazy expensive. Oh, and the patent. Probably going to have to do utility on this one.
Got a company to do the belt strap, working on a company to do the mold and production. Got to meet with a lawyer on Monday regarding the patent. As far as I know, it’ll be the only one Made In The USA.

I’ve used two in nine years. Maybe I’m not doing something right. Maybe this is my third one.
It is interesting that the buckle seems to be the weak point for a lot of people. It got me thinking this weekend and I changed my belt assembly just a little bit which will allow buckles to be replaced. So if you want to toss out the duckets for a metal cobra buckle, then the buckle will last forever and you can just move it from boab to boab.
For me, the buckle isn’t the weak point (at least since I switched from pulex to unger). My weak point is the squeegee wearing on the bucket and having to keep burning down the burrs to prevent nicks. And eventually the bucket looks ugly after years of work that I just want to replace it anyway.
It is interesting to me that there has only ever been one utility patent in this area: Unger’s original design. I’m hoping that mine qualifies for a utility patent but I’ll be filing for design patent as well. Only about 50% of the utility patents actually get awarded. But between that and filing for PCT (to protect it in trade countries) it’s going to be pricey. And I haven’t even got a quote back on the mold yet! Sheesh.
