Hotels

Hey everyone. I’ve been (mostly) out of the window cleaning business for the past 9 months. My fire dept sent me to medic school and I’ve only been able to keep up with some restaurants and a few residential’s in that time. Taken a big hit financially as my wife stays home with our kids. Anyways… I’m ready to get back in the game!

There’ve been about 5 hotels pop up / finish construction in the time I’ve been in school. I’d drive by them and see them finishing construction and think how I’d love to be able to gain their business. I’ve cleaned a hotel before (Best Western, 4 story), but it was the GM who contacted me for the bid. I’d like to secure these bids, but am not sure if my idea for an approach is right:

I was thinking of going in person with a nice folder with a copy of my insurance and maybe a flier and proposal for the exterior clean in there and ask for the GM. Is that a good approach? Should I ask for maintenance supervisor? Is calling a good idea (quantity over quality?)?

Any input is appreciated, as always.

That’s a good approach. If can make a suggestion find out who is the GM prior to your arrival and make your presentation directed to there attention.

In my area contracts with hotels always are dealt with through the head of the housekeeping Department.Insurance in hand likely isn’t necessary but a certificate from your carrier prior to work being done will be.

Hotels are hit or miss just like any other prospect. If you hit it off well with the gm right out of the gate you’ll probobly be cleaning their windows eventually.

Hotels can be lucrative money makers if you attract the right ones and handle them properly. On the flip side they can also be so cheap they wont pay your price.

I’ve jumped for joy over money I’ve made in some hotels and banged my head off the wall dealing with others. Fun Fun all around.

Why can’t all your jobs be lucrative you’re the one who bids them

Because I don’t make $250 an hour, every hour, across the board like some of you real savvy guys.

Awesome- thanks everyone for the input!!

I knew it. Im going back to being a bride kidnapping expert.

Hey everyone. So I have a quote tomorrow with at a La Quinta nearby. Its a nice size hotel. 3 stories. It has resi type windows with screens. I’m going to ask the manager if he can have their crew remove the screens so I can WFP it without having to use the manager. Is this pretty typical? I’ll let yall know how it goes.

Yes, they usually prefer their maintenance to remove them rather than pay you.
