Hiring a receptionist, when is the time?

We looked at Gabbyville and ended up going with Conversational.com - they had better packages that fit what we needed. At the end of the day it’s a huge help having our main number answered by a live person. Plus it keeps my cell phone from blowing up (mostly), which is nice.

Nice - we’re in the process of transitioning into using them only as a backup but it’s definitely helpful. Keeps calls from going unanswered and allows you to focus on what needs to get done. They should be able to provide you with recorded calls that you can look back over to make sure the quality is good

For those who hired a live person, was it usually someone who stayed at home? Did you set up a forwarding number to their phone?

i am currently forwarding my number to my oldest daughter amy. i tried again this year to hire a field helper and both seemed promising but quit without notice a couple weeks in.
she answers calls, gives estimates, sets appointments and will also be doing other paperwork crap.
it is a huge help and was integral in my meeting my may sales goal.

We have them work at the office.

I work from home often enough, I know how that goes and it’s not productive enough if I am paying

I’m convinced that hiring a receptionist a month ago is the only way to moving forward. If you’re like me and help operate the business 50 hours a week, you don’t have a lot of time to take 10-20 calls in a day. Around here people cycle through business until somebody answers their phone. We’ve literally doubled since last year and and it’s all because we have answered the phone every time, in a professional manner. Everyone thinks she’s my wife, though

To add to that. I now have the time to train my new window cleaner, which I’ve always been afraid to do for quality control reasons. But now
I’m able to let go of those concerns and concentrate when we are at a job together.

I hired a family friend who has a 2 year old son, so she stays in her home, goes anywhere when she needs and answers and schedules calls. I have her my old phone which I used as my personal/business line and got my own personal phone. Somehow I can see every missed call that comes in to her and can tell when she is scheduling because the customer factor gives me alerts. I pay my receptionist a flat rate and she’s happy.
