Gutter Whitening

Hi guys

What chemical & equipment are you using for gutter whitening? I have a gutter debris clean-out to do in a couple of weeks. The homeowner wants me to clean the exterior surface of the gutter also. I have never done this. What should I use?

Thank you,

How are you going about it WFP and chemicals ?

If not using a WFP then your going to need a Gutter pad ( make it a little easier and no need to climb up )you can grab those off of any Power wash supply site. Or even look for soft washing sites. Don’t know if WCR has them but worth a look.

Gutter zap can be used but your best bet is a pyre whitening chemical let me look for the link I had saved. If I can find when I get home Ill list,

Gutter grenade F-13 an brush , you could use s hose as long as it can reach the gutter
Be careful with his stuff on substrates. Make sure you rinse everything an anything it hits

You can mix it right in an oval bucket usually I go 12oz - 15oz to 1 gallon water

Work in 6-12’ sections . You don’t have to scrub hard but you might have to go over it a few times, an try not to let it dry. No big deal if it does. You’ll just have to go over it again with the brush

Whoops I was wrong on the mixture was driving an thinking an had to pull over
Any way it’ says it on the gallon bottle

I corrected it above what I mix at

I uses 1 gallon pump up sprayer. Spray it right in to a brush. Sometimes j do dump in an oval bucket allso. But it’s good to keep in a pump sprayer cause you won’t use all of it every time

An why do you always pop up when KC wins

LOL. That’s a coincidence. My World Series win contact-high is gone. Yesterday’s win was nice, but now I’m only looking at a non-Royals playoffs, like the bad, old days. :grimacing:

Basketball is coming! Rock Chalk Jayhawk!

Good advice above, as always. Thank you.

Will F-13 take of any paint or just house paint?

Power bolt is great for gutters and safer

Do you have a link?

What ratio was your solution @? Do you remember I have been mixing @ 11-15 oz per gallon haven’t had that problem yet

Had a friend that said he took paint off, but when I asked him what did he mix at . He said , I didn’t I used it straight. Lol. I said dude ya …you have to mix it. He said oh well it was my brothers house who cares. lol.
At least you got the striping off. Ya see it works.

I think you can paint the gutters if you’d do take off the finish, an they will look like new.

I think have to ask my brother in law he is a painter. I mean yes of course you can paint them , but will they look good is what I’m saying. I know who wants to go through that but at least t could be fixed.

We discontinued gutter whitening. To be honest it wasnt a service that our customers particularly cared about and it just didnt carry much value because of that. But when we did do it, we followed whatever ratio it recommended on the bucket.

we discontinued “gutter restoration” and do “gutter whitening”.

F13, pole and mr long arm brush is all which is needed. However we got the most requests for restoration when it was cold (f13 only works when above a certain temp. Clients hated the price, guys hated the work. We have a lot of tall homes, so we were doing lots of 3rd story.

A big thing for us is client had no clue if the gutters were painted over or not, they’d say no and they would be.

So we just go after “the organic” material now, make no promises on the oxidation. We say .50 cents a linear foot but in reality we just eye ball the job and typically hit 125/hr when using an old wfp brush. Everyone is happy

Ya I just say to them gutters are an enigma. sometimes I could get them like new, sometimes 80%. I’ll start with a small section if it isn’t cooperating like I would like we will stop am of course no charge. Sometimes if it’s a small house one floor. I just do it no charge makes my job look better an makes the customer happy.
Never 2nd or 3rd story for free though.

Ya I hear ya I don’t do a lot of it, but it’s there if need be , an it does make the job look better for the most part . Depends on the house sometimes I don’t even want to be bothered, so I don’t up sell it.
