Groupon troubles

NPR.org » Two For One: Groupon Replaces CEO Mason With Board Members

It fascinates me that these companies have no idea how to make this work.

Seems so obvious from an outside perspective.

Obviously its not as easy as it looks, but there seem to be options that none of them even consider implementing.

“After four and a half intense and wonderful years as CEO of Groupon, I’ve decided that I’d like to spend more time with my family. Just kidding - I was fired today.”

Great line.

just looked up the word groupon in the dictionary

and this is basically the crux of the matter, you simply cannot sweep that under the carpet

I don’t like groupon for our carpet cleaning las vegas business. It cuts back prices to high.

I tried Groupon once and they basically wanted me to advertise my services for pennies on the dollar. Why would I want use them again? Easy to grasp onto when you are hungry. Easy to stay away from too. I can go hungry on my own!

About a month or two ago a wc’er in Fresno ca was arrested for stealing from his customers, he was offering a special on either groupon or living social, cant remember. The way I’m told it works is they advertise a special at 50% , you then share that 50/50 with groupon. So if you were selling a $100 job at $50 you would only make $25. … No thanks.

That is exactly how all of these discount coupon sites work. I have to also believe that you get the bottom wrung clients that are only looking for the cheapest of the cheap on everything. There is no way they are going to call you back to pay full price if they can get it for 1/4 the price. Services are always on these sites.

Personally I would not make 50% of 50% work for us. We opted to not use Groupon. We are experience a similar situation with Face Book ads. In my opinion, using mailers and your are the most effective options.
