Funny how things work out! A few weeks ago,I got this call from a guy who saw me on Yellow Pages.com. He needed his gutters cleaned. At that point, there was no way I could as I didn’t have the correct equipment and my comfort level was not there…I was completely honest with him about how new I was and that I was just not in the position yet. Yellow Pages didn’t even have me listed for “gutter cleaning”…although it does now!
Anyway, he called me again!..seems he really needs someone! So I thought, what the heck…just got my tax return and I can buy what I need…like a big ass ladder! I again explained to him that I have never done this before and if he was comfortable, I’d give it a go as I was fully insured! (when I got my insurance, they insured me for this work since I planned to get into it!) Told him I’d charge him less because I was pretty much learning on his gutters!..Heck no ha said…I’ll pay you the going rate!..Great I said…I’m your man!
So…I landed the job today…not sure if I underbid or whatnot…because I did a redneck measuring job…by pacing it off and guesstimating ! Anyway…about $190 bucks is what I told him,and $190 bucks is what he said he’s give me! I am officially in the Gutter cleaning business!
Oh, by the way…guess who gave him a quote to do his windows? and guess who accepted the quote?..Yup…Me…and him!..Thanks for reading my true story!..today…I am happy!
