Google voice question

Hi!
I just signed up for google voice. If someone calls my “business” number , it rings to my personal cell which is great. However, i dont know if the person calling is a customer for that specific line.

Is there a way to set up GV so that if anyone calls my business line, then the business line phone number will show up as the caller ID, which will tell me which business they are calling for?

Im on android, and also have hangouts.
Thanks!

That’s my setup. Not ideal but at least I know to answer with a company greeting. Go to settings in the top left corner. Just now realized they updated the site. Click on transfer under your assigned number toward the middle of the screen. Click on Calls toward the top. Under caller ID (incoming) is where it’s at.

I remember when we first set up our GV number, anytime someone called it the GV number would show up in the caller ID on our cell phones. So that’s great for knowing it’s someone calling your business. We ended up changing that feature though because we wanted to see the individual numbers that were calling.

Yeah, some combination of both would be awesome and something I would pay for.

What about switching the two, use gv for personal and cell phone for business.

You can also try line2.com

I use both and I just add the numbers to my contacts with my business name. So when either number is called my business name shows up on the caller id. Some times I’ll change the contact name to “show me the money”. But then I have a tendency to answer the with “show me the money”, customers don’t seem to like that.

Thanks for all the tips. I was able to change the setting! Now when a customer calls i can tell which business they are calling for vs a personal call.

Make sure you call the customer back using the gv (business line). Customers love to have your personal cell…they will always call that.

You can set your phone so when you make an outgoing call it will ask you if you want to use gv or cell.
