Getting Yelp Reviews

haven’t figured everything out yet that’s for sure!

We were able to get over 100 Google reviews and 40 plus Facebook reviews this past year. Always mention to the customer while we are at the jobsite that reviews are important to our company and that we will send them out an email that has our review links in it. If they’d leave us a review, we’d greatly appreciate it. Later on, we’ll send out an email with good copy and hyperlinks

It’s not worth paying for reviews - people want to do things that are helping someone. The motivation to help is what needs to be communicated not financially. People don’t want coupons to save and use 6 months/year later

Thanks for all the replies on this topic. Turns out the three customers I did last all left reviews and guess what? Yelp decided to take them down and not recommend them for God knows what reason. I am getting business and show up number 13 on Yelp which isn’t that bad (Phoenix Market and my new business has only been open a month) but it’s incredibly discouraging to go out and work really hard on some pretty filthy houses only to have some engineer at Yelp creat an algorithm that decides what reviews day and what reviews go. That was explanation I was given by a representative AZ ice advertise with him for one month which by the way is a total rip-off, just my opinion but avoid it at all costs. If you don’t have at least a couple reviews on Yelp no one clicks on you. If I’m looking for a service or a new restaurant to try I’m certainly not clicking online without any reviews because why would I and no one does that. I actually went back to my customers houses with a handwritten note and a few business cards and ask them in the note if they enjoyed and are happy with their service then leaving a review on Yelp would be much appreciated. I’m still getting jobs and I will continue to but I wish less people used Yelp nowadays. I had a thousand door hangers made that cost me 450 bucks with coupons: one side is 10% off any window cleaning service and the other side is $15 off for a Yelp review. I didn’t know until too late that it is taboo or possibly even illegal to solicit a review. I think it’s absolutely ridiculous that you can’t encourage customer in any way necessary to give you a positive review. It’s like an expiration date, it’s a call to action. 99 out of 100 people won’t leave a review because even if you wow them why would they? I am done ranting but I think I make valid points. If they are going to take advantage of the enormous monopoly they have on soliciting business then there’s no reason that Joe Blow running a one-man show shouldn’t be able to get a review anyway he has to as long as it is ethical and he did a good job.

well i disagree.
first of all i do not understand why you would want a yelp review when google reviews are far more valuable as is a facebook review.
paying for a review is taboo for a reason…it goes against the very purpose of review!!! it’s not a call to action and it’s not like an expiration date it’s a flat out bribe. and every customer that sees your door hanger knows all your reviews are worthless. "wow look honey this guy actually pays people for reviews and he still only has 3, sad"
actually after reading the post above you better burn those hangers.

Especially when Yelp won’t even publish some reviews or use it to toward your rating.
I was actually cleaning a business owner’s windows when she told me, “I just left you a Yelp review. I’m your first one!”

I was confused because I never saw the review until I started clicking through and found this:
“1 review that is not currently recommended.” Note: The reviews below are not factored into the business’s overall star rating.
“Cleans windows bi-weekly for commercial building. Does and amazing job and is great at customer service details.”

Yelp says not to ask for reviews… yet they won’t even publish the one’s I don’t ask for. Why? Because the rater doesn’t use Yelp enough to rate other companies?

I will never offer incentives for reviews. Its just tacky. I left a bad review on amazon and the company contacted me to refund my money. Once I got my refund they asked me to change the review to a 5 star… uh, no. Your product sucked!

I have 0, not 3 as yelp removed them all and this was before my door hangers. It’s not a bribe at all if you like my service and are willing to post about I will give you a discount it’s called a call to action and whoever created the hysteria over it seems to be misinformed, not saying you but a community in general. I’m a new guy so maybe I’m way off base here wouldn’t be the first time.

i think your method and opinion are way off base but thats ok you’re entitled to think what you want.

And I don’t want to ask them to do it. Pick and choose the easiest targets.

i ask everybody via my tcf invoice email with google and facebook review links.
hoping nicejob will increase the response rate.

You know why I never leave reviews? Its in freaking convenient! I don’t want to do it. Simple as that.

However, what if you tried emailing your invoice to them just before the service is finished or right when you’re done…maybe this is the tricky part, the timing in which to do this, but why not have a link to your review page right on that email with your invoice attached.

Here’s your invoice! Would you mind helping us out by leaving your honest review of your experience today? All you gotta do is click right here. Thanks in advance-

that’s exactly what i do, it works.

Hey @cactus27!

Just keep taking pictures of your work with NiceJob and sending the review invite right after you finish and you’ll be rocking the reviews in no time!

Best part is if you do that you’re not just going to get more reivews…we’re going to put them to work for you - automating your social media marketing, boosting your SEO, and improving conversions!

so i had no idea how helpful tcf would be in identifying phots from 2 years before i started using it. tcf has put all my old invoices uploaded from qb onto to my caleandar, so i just look at the date of the photo and got to that day!!!
@Lars our season is just getting started here but i did a little job the other day. i was a little disorganzed and did send my invoice and review invite right away. that night she me an unsolicited email with nice comments so i emailed back a thank you and told her i would be sending an invitation to write a formal review. she got it today and posted it on google…
so i’m 100% lol.

Exactly , this goes for yelp. When you get a job from someone that’s an avid yelp reviewer. Sometimes you know when they send you a message and there profile says they done 5,10, or 100 reviews . You better give it 110%, spend the exact time to get that WOW factor .

Yeah that part stinks , but it’s a numbers game . The more you get the more that’ll stick

Great to hear @cactus27! The automatic posting of your reviews and photos are looking great on your Facebook page too!

Review not showing up with pic though?

Hey @cactus27 it sometimes takes up to a few hours before new reviews from Google show up in NiceJob - it will be there very shortly
