Getting started...Gear setup

Understand the point, but isn’t there risk for dripping from the squeegee? You don’t want that in people’s home.

It did take some getting used to at first but now drips are no longer a problem. (Plus I think he’s focusing on storefront first.)

Yes i plan to start with commercial/storefronts…

Hey guys so i JUST got in my Ettore 18" backflip. Tried cleaning a window using straight pulls and i noticed there is 1/4" or so streaks along the edges…why? What am i doing wrong?

I read a bunch of threads. Tho i cant seem to find an answer to why there is a 1/4" strip of still wet window along the sides while im doing straight pulls. The rubber sticks out of channel about size. But i think its suppose to be that way…so cant figure out what the issue is…

Is that where detail ing comes into play? Cause i assume i should be able to straight pull without leaving the edges wet…

are you holding the squeegee perfectly horizontal? or at a slight pitch downward away from the edge?

I tried both…same result

If you mean along the frames, yes, it’s normal. To reduce this you can divebomb the edges (search that) or if they’re maintenance cleans you can not mop the 1/4" along the edges. The water on the squeegee will be enough to clean the edges. Also, if you let the squeegee ride up onto the seals, it’s lifted slightly and will miss the glass, so be mindful of that. Other than that, correct, that’s the point of detailing.

Part of it too is just being familiar with your tool, knowing exactly how much pressure to put on the blade as a whole, and developing your skill to the point where you can “feel” the window seal through the pole and squeegee.

When you start out, you will detail a bit at the edges and that’s normal. As you progress you will probably notice that the detail beads shrink gradually from 1/4" to 1/8", and then in some cases to even less than that.

So shoot for minimal detailing, but don’t get discouraged if there is a bit of water on the edge of your glass for now.

Thank you very much Derrick.

So last night i finally got a chance to practice cleaning windows. The motel im living at let me clean the office windows to practice. I learned a ton just cleaning the same 2 windows over and over. Im currently using the backflip. Not a bad way to start. And loving it. I think i found my nitch. So fun. Now i have the confidence to go talk to people about actual work.

Question: Does the Ninja handle hold Sorbo Cobra channels?

I just did the same last night with my new excelerator and liquidator! I went to a strip mall at night and worked on the glass…some were vacant and some companies will love their clean windows lol…which ever window cleaner does that route will be confused, yet satisfied half his work is done.

Thank you to Luke and Steve-o for your videos. I am killing the swivel technique! It was after midnight and I did NOT want to stop lol.
