Garelick Pole Repair

I have always been disappointed with how quickly the Garelick Pole Handle wear outs and lets the pole poke through - Then the pole gets beat up. I have tried to find hard rubber bicycle grips but they were never the right size. I don’t like paying for and having to replace the tips several times a year. This is what I do now. Maybe you guys could also benefit from this tip.

1- Order and install a new grip ( If the old one is pocking through the end ).

2- Purchase 1 1/4 " Rubber Leg Tips from your hardware store ( For short Garelick Poles use 1 1/8 " tips )

3- Drill small hole in the bottom of the Rubber Leg Tip to allow air to push out as pole collapse’s.

4- Apply a dap of soap on the inside of Leg Tip and push on to the end of Pole Grip.

I do the same thing with all my poles, all brands. Makes them non-slip for insides.

Hahah, I just did this a couple of days ago and wanted to share myself. You beat me to it. Excellent info, thank you for sharing. I didn’t drill holes though and it seems to not present any issues. I kinda like that the air comes out when I collapse it and “cleans out” the in betweens of the pole sections… I also added the Unger locking cone and some anti-slip tape, so I can twist the pole more easily with wet hands.

I fixed my garlick pole by replacing the pole sections, dowel and end cap with moerman pole sections, end cap and tip…

I have used some of the Ettore hard plastic pole handle replacements on the Garelick poles in the past you have to warm them up with a heat gun and then slide it on.
