Gardiner Xtreme problem

Anyone have problems with Gardiner Xtreme sections snapping? 2 years old

Is that their really lightweight model. Quite thin sections? I know on one of the Uk forums they talk a lot about this issue.

This version is very prone to breaking, two years you’ve done well my friend.

The latest v3 is better but these will not last, I use only because I’m well happy to pay the money to make my working days easier.

Maybe thats why act doesn’t sell them. Probably not but maybe

Perhaps you should have purchased a HEAVIER more durable pole.

I have never had a quality issue with Gardiner poles, I have three Gardener extremes. yes I’ve snaped sections and it’s always due to user error.

I wouldn’t jump to conclusions on quality from one or two posts.

I believe if you briefly did some research you’d find Gardner has a reputation 4 quality product’s.

I am a huge Gardiner fan but his poles are not designed to take a beating. Pure pleasure to work with. So light and rigid. Money makers!!!

With the money I spent on my gardiner slx, I’m not doing anything to beat it. It’s a great workhorse tho. Best purchase I’ve made in a long time.

Gardiner is the only product that holds up for my employees to use. Some Brands aren’t designed for employees they don’t treat him the same as owners

Can you give some examples of user error please? My pole broke but i wasn’t doing anything unusual that i know of…just cleaning a window. But I’d like to be aware of any potential pitfalls just in case.

Trying to extend over obstacles, too much angle applies pressure where it is not intended.

Working again too far away from building lifting pole moving to next windows. Good technique is to try to have pole upright while moving to avoid joint strain.

Rubbing pole sections on ledges wears in areas that weakens the section.Especially when doing large jobs where the spot being rubbed is repetitive on each window.

Once a pole section weakens even walking it up extended can cause enough pressure on the weak joint to snap.

Walking a pole up when to many sections are extended.

Sun weakens pole fibers, black colored poles heating in Sun takes a toll on the pole. Many start to fade which effects the strength.

List goes on

Another factor to think about is the heights that Gardiner pole reach.

The higher you go the more pressure is applied.

You could use the cheapest pool on the market on a one, two story residential home for a few years without any issues, no flex, no bending, no deep ledges.

Now moving to 3,4,5,6 and 7 story work the poles are made different, used different and more likely to damage or breakage due to the conditions and pressures being applied.

Perhaps Gardiner could mix in some basic customer service and return my emails/requests for part #s

Excellent points

No one is questioning the quality. It’s well known that the Extreme use lightweight sections. They simply do not forgive errors or accidents. In fact Gardiner themselves issue that caution. It’s just mathematics. If you want extreme lightness then durability will be sacrificed because the pole sections will be thinner.

But a lot of guys prefer a HEAVIER more durable pole.

Of course and in that case if you were convinced you wanted Gardiner you would choose from the SLX range or the Super Max range… or if not tied to a brand there are many others of course that would be fit for purpose.

I have gardiner poles. I have never bought the xtreme cause i looked at it as a cheaper version and I was afraid it wouldnt hold up to the work load and abuse the employees put on it. SLX and CLX are good quality poles. I have 3 CLX poles, 2 that are 10 years old and one that is a year old. We noticed a small crack on one of the 10 year poles a couple weeks ago but it is still useable. I also have an SLX that that is about 5 years old. It been dropped several times at full extension and hasnt broke yet. If dont want gardiner you might check out tucker, we have had their products as well for 10 years and no major issues. I look at both brand as very comparable in quality and price.
