Freezing windows

I’m living up here in Michigan, and it is COLD. I’ve heard of people putting rubbing alcohol in their cleaning bucket to keep the solution from freezing when you scrub the windows. Anyone else heard this or have any suggestions? thanx

Yes, rubbing alcohol does work. I use about a cup of rubbing alcohol to 3 liters of cleaning solution. This mixture will keep it from freezing down to about zero degrees. If you need to go lower in temperature, you can add a little more.

Where MI. are you? Yes we use methanol to keep water from freezing, or wait for a warmer day

The http://windowcleaner.com/vBulletin/residential/7343-how-prevent-windows-freezing-up.html thread covers most of the options I’ve ever heard of.

Im in Illinois and it does get quite cold at times. I use Methenal in my water, it works very well and does not have to bad a smell. I get it from a potty house rental place. They use it to keep the water from freezing.
