Fastest way to get customers

What would your starting equipment be?

That would depend on how large a budget/ how much credit I could get.

Ideal starter setup for housewashing I think would be:

  • 8gpm belt or gear drive machine (Udor pump, either way)
  • Hannay hose reels
  • 125 gallon buffer tank
  • 35 gallon mix tank
  • 200ā€™ pressure hose on the reel and extra lengths of 100ā€™ and 50ā€™ hoses
  • 150ā€™ supply hose with spares
  • 19ā€ surface cleaner that @innocentbystander goes on endlessly about, but I somehow can never remember the name of
  • FatBoy bandit 12v roof pump setup with KuriTec hose and Gorilla chemical reel

Mounted on either:

  • An older tacoma/tundra converted to a flatbed
  • 5x10 tandem trailer

That 8 gpm machine with udor pump is 2k itself right?

What if I wanted to keep everything under 2-3 k

$3k is a fairly easy budget to keep to for a starter setup.

The pressure pro eagle 5.6@2500 runs $1500-$2000 after shipping. Thatā€™s what I have, and itā€™s a money maker.

Or if youā€™re a little bit mechanically inclined, you could get a 22(?)hp Predator motor from HF on sale and bolt a 8gpm Udor gear drive to it. Thatā€™ll run you close to the same cost as the pressure pro, but with better specs. And definitely lower freight costs, since you can pickup the heaviest item (the motor) at your local Harbor Freight. Definitely go for the replacement warranty, as some of those motors can be hit or miss. Chris Schertz ( @SchertzServicesLLC on pwr) is running a setup like this for weekend work, and seems to be really happy with it so far.

Then you can get some cheap hose reels, reclaimed barrels for your buffer and chem tanks, and a used trailer on CL. Thatā€™s pretty much what I did, and am still running the same setup. I plan on reworking some of it this year, though.

I actually have a engineering degree lol

So I will be going with the second set up, I am just completely new to pressure washing & donā€™t know what components are needed & so forth.

I canā€™t tell which is the add-on for me anymore. Iā€™m almost 50/50 window cleaning to pressure washing. I love them both and hate them equally. :pensive:

You donā€™t want to do that because You will want a setup with the ability to add a surface cleaner for concrete. Concrete is an easy upsell and decent money but you canā€™t do it effectively with a 12V set up.

Haha, then Iā€™d say neither is an add-on. Theyā€™re both core services.

I think I would be quite happy to only clean windows for my power washing customers, if I had the lead-flow for it.

Yeah, my favorite jobs are top to bottom cleaning. Roof, siding, exterior windows, driveway. Love, love, love.
