Facebook reviews, really worth it?

We have used facebook for our business page for a few years and it’s been very useful… but the reviews section can be a PAIN! We have had fake and untruthful reviews in the past which affected our 5 star review and have now decided not to use the review us feature of facebook business page.

Whats been your experience using the review us feature of facebook as it doesnt let you delete untruthful reviews.

Thanks folks!

I like it so far, But i guess im not big enough or receive enough reviews on FB to matter yet. and my 6 on yelp are 5star. But for the most part, people can read the fakers unless they are truly well written!

That is one down fall to almost all site that let the general public post a fake reviews, Facebook won’t let you delete them but you can respond to them (in a professional manner) which can turn a bad review into a golden mine if done correctly. I had a 1 star review from a potential customers after my response to her, she changed the review to a 5 star review and because I was direct and honest I gained 2 customers that I know of just because of how I handled the situation.

That being said I agree managing all the review sites are a PITA.

If you have any questions Pete reach out to me.

The only review that was less than a 5 was from somebody from out of town whom I have never done work for.
Getting a 4 from a total stranger is funny, maybe he liked my weekly photo updates.

Facebook works well if your targeting residential clients.

Not so much for commercial accounts (I have got some good commercial contracts) from it though.

It’s definately got its ups and downs. I’m still 5 star but it makes me skeptical when I boost posts and previous customers that I personally had decided to let go from servicing may see it and go leave a bad review for no reason. On google and stuff they aren’t constantly reminded of my presence after I may have let them go because you have to actually search for window cleaners to see me anywhere else but Facebook is so public and in your face that it could possibly backfire. I personally have had customers that expect more than what’s been stated in estimates or even in my service guidelines and have in turn cussed at me and more when I’ve stated that I do not do tracks and sills on glass only packages etc. and it would be extra to add. Its really a “at your own risk” type of thing.

Yea man I actually have a complete horror story I left out. Two years ago I created a new page because a psycho lady had went completely coo coo on us. I did her windows and she was very happy with them but then THREE MONTHS LATER she calls me saying “there is crap all over these windows you need to get back out here immediately and fix it, I am not happy” umm, lady do you realize that was three months, two dozen rains, a season change and literally 50 degrees ago?? I told her i could schedule another service but me doing all the windows again for free was not happening. She hung up and her and 11 of her friends got on my fb page and left the most off the wall reviews about “broken windows” “drinking on the job” and all kinds of psycho idiot things. Complete bs man. It happens though.

Facebook sucks, :grinning: but I do get on and see a couple friends here and there. I also posted our businesses but that is about the extent of it. It is almost a part time job keeping up with it, and the constant emails from them is annoying, to say the least.

Not getting down on those who frequent it. I am sure if it is played right, it can be productive and I do know some who are making good money, just not my thing at all.

For reviews, I would go with the Google reviews. As an owner, you can also respond if someone leaves a review that may be questionable or fake. I think it is better for SEO as well.

I do have one or two customers that find us on facebook. We rank well for roof cleaning in our area on Google and that is where we concentrate. It keeps us busy for sure.
