Door to Door, Knock or No-Knock?

ty for clarifying, indeed we want to avoid zero.

Okay, there goes that negativity again man.

I have had different results. The job I did last Friday for example - the lady said she saved my door hanger from months ago and finally got around to calling me.

Flyering cars at parking lots doesnā€™t work. We can all agree upon that, right? Same as slipping a business card in the drivers side window.

Believe in the force of the door hanger young master Luke.

you are SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO wrong!
there are many factors that affect the results from a flyer and they all must be reasonable for success but YES THERE ARE people ready to have their windows cleaned who have not yet done anything about it and many will act on a flyer or gladly welcome you at their door.
there are so many people on here who have built very successful businesses based largely on flyers like for example chris L who went from nothing to a million pear year in only 5 years and then continued beyond that.
i actually had a woman phone me and like me on facebook because she found my flyer on her door when she came home from a tough day and it made her feel so good!
flyers on cars is also illegal in many places

Totally the wrong way of thinking. Many many people here on this forum and many other groups built huge companys off of direct marketing (flyers, doorhangers, eddm).

Well i offered my suggestions to you. I really dont care for your response to my example.

Flyer, door hangers and eddm work, period!

I wish you the best of luck out there @Tgrove28.

Let him be! Let him just cruise around in his little town with his bubble man wrap earning him customers all by itself. More for the rest of us. If I didnā€™t know he was so thick already Iā€™d think he was trying to troll the board here.

All the work that has paid my bills since going into business for myself has come from either friends, referrals, or door hangers.

Any neighborhood worth working in my area will have resident sheepdogs who call the cops on anyone canvassing door-to-door. Even though the activity is legal (provided the streets are public and not privately maintained), the police will side with the homeowners and request/force any would-be salesman to vacate the premises. There is little to be gained by insisting on oneā€™s constitutional rights in such a scenario as the HOA still has the power to blacklist me if I dig my heels in and continue to push the issue. Those neighborhoods are huge targets for burglary and home invasion, so their paranoia is rightly justified.

Setting out door hangers without knocking puts more residents at ease and causes less confrontation. I still get a couple calls a day for every 200-300 hangers I put out. 70% of those convert to paying work. My next step is flat rate pricing, printed on the door hanger to save myself the time of running an estimate for each job.

when someone calls from my website i have to give them a phone estimate and tell them all about me and my service even though its all on the website, it usually takes 5-30 minutes.
when someone comes from my flyer ā€œfarmā€ area. they usually say theyā€™ve seen my prices when can i come. almost all my door stuffers have about house size and 3 quality packages.
saves me a ton of time.

and hundreds will see your wrap every day but most will ignore it completely.
i was only referring to the one specific post you made which sounded outrageous to me but iā€™m fine with you, zero interest in gang bang though

1 out of every 100 flyers/door hangers my friendsā€¦1 out of every 100ā€¦thatā€™s the average and Iā€™ll take that all day long!

100 dollars for 1000 flyers. 10 jobs per 1000 flyers distributed. 200-300 for an average job means $2500 worth of business for a $100 dollar investment, 3 days of flyering and 5-6 days on the job. Thatā€™s a darn good ROI I donā€™t care where youā€™re from.

Hell yea

I can explain it more for you Skipper if you need me to.

What I meant is many many companys have had great success with marketing with door hangers, flyers, eddm.
And the comment that i ā€œquotedā€ was an example i gave to him (tgrove) how people view high quility direct marketing piece for the most part, and he said i was crazy. Soā€¦that where it stands.
If i can answer anything else bud feel free to ask Skipper!
