Does your insurance company know?

Curious how people are going about general liability in terms of add-on’s.

Went to my insurance company saying I was considering adding solar panel cleaning, and they came back with a quote of nearly double my window cleaning coverage. Then I was thinking that I had been cleaning mirrors, shower doors, etc. without informing the insurance company. Now I feel like if I told them I wanted to clean gutters, screen repair, my rates would go through the roof.

So I guess what I am getting at is, does your carrier know? The folks on here who offer many different services, are you guys paying really high insurance to do so?

Got to be upfront or why even have insurance.

If you don’t tell them you do solar panel cleaning and you damage a solar panel they’re not going to cover it.

They’re not going to cover it regardless, unless you have a care and custody rider.

General liability insurance is primarily to cover you if you injure a person not a building make sure your insurance covers what you think it does

Eh, my guess is that they’re assuming that you’re doing solar panel maintenance instead of just cleaning. I’m not sure I’d pay extra for it since ccc will exclude it anyway.

Interesting. I will look into this.

They have probably never insured someone for “solar panel cleaning” before and had to come up with a conservative (big $$$) policy.
