Does storefront work slow down in winter?

like the question asks above.
FYI: I started in lawn care and got a rude awakening come winter when the calls stopped coming. I expected a slow down not an abrupt stop in $$$. that’s what led me to window cleaning, desperation! after that i slowly phased out my lawn care accts and increased my window accts. now im 99% store fronts, and love it and would never go back. But reading on here abt the winter slow down i started getting scared! i assume you all are taking about residential right?

Lol … I’ve never seen 6" of snow stick to the glass like it does to the grass. So…

Storefronts dont stop as long as you have weekly, biweekly or every 4 weeks accounts (one off store fronts cleans may stop calling.)

Residential window cleaning dies off for the most part during winter (there exceptions.)

WCS, “Storefronts dont stop” <- these are the most beautiful words i have ever seen! Thats what i assumed but kinda got scared of all the slow down talk on here lately.

BTW: no snow where im at, Florida.
tnx:slight_smile:

No worries about snow. But that dad-gum 22º dip is brutal in February.
My congested county has too many store front cleaners. :-/

If anything, a lot of window cleaners stop cleaning their accounts regularly when we get snow, ice, and sub-zero temperatures (high elevation CO here), so I personally land more storefront accounts in winter.

I’m not a huge storefront guy, but it’s pretty mellow and keeps me going through the winter. I want to build enough through the dry season residential so I can sell my route and spend my winters in the southern hemisphere… NZ, AUS, etc.

I slow down in the winter. I mean it’s cold and I have to wear pants and a hoodie. Sometimes it gets below 30 and I’m like eh, I’ll get it later…

Yea… It’s kind of my dream country. Great climbing, fly-fishing, and a general positive vibe. There’s a part of me that wants to move there. Good friends there that really care.

To be 100% honest it’s all about your approach. BUT, think about it like this… holidays are rolling around in the winter meaning shoppers are out buying stuff non stop. Storefronts need you more than ever because their daily traffic multiplies like no other meaning being presentable is IMPORTANT. Think about this, cleanliness on a family owned storefront is the deciding factor of whether or not something good may be inside or them deciding it looks like a junk store and they pass it by. Make your customers believe this when pitching the bid (nicely and professionally) and they will beg you to come back at least every other week. It’s making the customer see the reality and speaking to them from one business owner to another. Customer relation 101. At least that’s what works for me. Create an urgency and be the solution pretty much. But no, it doesn’t slow down. If anything it gets busier to be honest. Also offer gutter cleaning in your packages, that keeps me booked out three weeks during November and December too. Just an idea.

Hard to get in 40 hrs every week because of harsh winter weather. Kinda need to wait for side walks to be shoveled. Early morning may be to damn cold so you get a late start. Sun goes down early. People don’t want the windows done before a big winter storm hits town. So in the winter it’s harder to stay on schedule but the work gets done. Still plenty of money to be made.

PS
I’d rather work in the cold than the summer heat any day.
