Does anyone NOT use wfp now but has used them in the past?

Dange - You could say Ettore invented the modern squeegee because the old Chicago squeegee was to squeegees what a Stanley Steamer was to cars.
Also before the Chicago squeegee most guys were (as John said) using a 2 chamois, or chamois and scrim method to clean glass. In fact there are some videos on YouTube of an old wcer in the UK who still uses this method. I can imagine the cost of a natural sea sponge almost a hundred years ago would be quite prohibitive for a simple wcer.

Howdy Tony,

The wheel is a wheel whether it’s a stone wheel or a modern day rubber wheel it’s still a wheel… a model T is still a car and a Ferrari is a better design ! Ettore did not invent the squeegee, lets give credit to where credit is due…He redesigned the squeegee into a better product. To argue otherwise is not realistic.

I’ll get back to you about the sponge and the old timers later !

Dange

Hey Dange,
While you’re at it I want to know who invented the WFP? Maybe it was Chris Wallace.

Now that’s a name I haven’t heard in awhile!
Isn’t he the chap who tried the copyright the term waterfed?

I usually do a pre wash and it depends on the size of the house. If it is a house with 30 windows or more we always use pure water. The ladders usually come out a 28 footer seems to be what you need for houses here in San Diego two stories and it is a drag to carry, big track homes are stacked on top of eachother and you cant angle the ladder correctly, in those cases it is much better to wfp than using an extension pole.

Prewash is a must on all lower windows. Wfp is great on newer windows, and if used on a single story we will pre wash, scrape and finish with pure water, makes the windows so much cleaner, but only on 30 windows plus or more than one story otherwise it is quicker to just use traditional methods. I would also suggest the clx poles for anything below 30 feet, they are light and cheap

Howdy Mike,

Well it’s a well known fact that " The Tried and the True " was the first water fed pole,
Tucker manufacturing invented the first water fed pole back in the early 1950’s, Just a fact !

Dange with plenty of Range !!!

TUCKER TUCKER TUCKER POOOOOOOOOOLE

Actually Dange I have a pic of a patent for a wfp from the 1800’s. Tucker just reinvented it like Ettore did the squeegee.WFP patent.doc (364 KB)

WAUGH !!!

Are you sure … Show us the picture good Sir ! But a patent isn’t an invention it has to be made in order for it to be invented, a patent is just an Idea right…Please Educate Us all !

Ettore Redesign it like Ferrari redesigned the car !

Dange

It’s in my post now. Here’s a link showing a drawing of the wfp - http://www.google.com/patents?id=_AFpAAAAEBAJ&pg=PA2&lpg=PA2&dq=Albert+Thierry+and+Herman+Schoenfield+window+cleaner+patent+1895&source=bl&ots=e69qc7UPbJ&sig=KGdW-aFgTf5WnzLpNdRue0tBmBE&hl=en&ei=0I_TTKvNOdmlnAf2-OTRBQ&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=1&sqi=2&ved=0CBQQ6AEwAA#v=onepage&q=Albert%20Thierry%20and%20Herman%20Schoenfield%20window%20cleaner%20patent%201895&f=false
It’s in my post now.[/QUOTE

Wow…Was it ever manufactured ? Boy Tony your at one with ! But was that ever made ! Where are the pictures that are spoken of ?

Knowledge is what we’re all about !

Dange

Look again.

TONY, TONY, TONY !!!

I can’t open this I need to purchase Microsoft Office…Blast it !

I put up a google link in the other post. It has the document and the pic.

You’re not missing anything, it’s a diagram not a picture. I bet something like that was invented a thousand times over and forgotten. What matters is who invented something, and then it took off to go viral.

I’ll get it for you. just a sec.

edit:

By that logic then Ettore did invent the squeegee.

Wow !

Wow I love it, it’s hard to believe that long ago …

It looks like a TUCKER POOOOOOOOLE
Tony this is great !!!

The Dange with limited Range !

I think the logic is legit. I wouldn’t give Davinci credit for inventing the helocopter. Or some… I forget, maybe he was greek, but I read he had a scroll in the Great Library of Alexander that theorized the planets go around the Sun and not around the Earth. There was another scroll that proved… PROVED, the Earth was a sphere. But this was all forgoten for thousands of years.

Oh Man !

“REDESIGNED”

Did I read it write (I googled this stuff earlier) that the guy who 1st invented the squeegee was black? There is almost no information on him at all. Google doesn’t respect window cleaners in my opinion.

Have you thought about using a backpack on smaller gigs. No set up time with a backpack and it takes about 60 seconds to refill.
