DIY Softwash Rig

I apologize if I’m asking the same questions that have been answered before. I’ve been intrigued lately by roof cleaning. In my market area, I feel like roof washing could really be a big hit. I’ve watched countless videos and feel like I am ready to give it a go. The entry level cost doesn’t seem too substantial to me but I’m having trouble getting my wife on board. So. i’m going to list everything I have available to me right now and see if anyone can give me some advice on where to go from here.

(1) used 55 gallon blue drum, the kind that carry hydrogen peroxide. I can get as many of these as I need.
(1) 25 gallon chemical spot sprayer.
(1) 12 volt 1 gpm transfer pump
(2) 12 volt 5 gpm transfer pumps.
(1) Brand new deep cycle marine battery
(1) Simpson 2.5 gpm 3200 psi pressure washer. Model # ALH3225 at lowes.
200 ft of garden hose.
(1) extra pressure washing gun.
*I do have an 8 ft bed on the truck, but it get’s pretty full as it is.

I know this isn’t much, but I figured it would be a start. I have a really good friend who said I could practice on his roof. And believe me, his roof needs it. I put everything together last weekend and it was working great just using a garden hose and a cheap sprayer with multiple patterns. I’m sure running bleach through it a few times might not make it work so hot, but eh, it was $12.
So here are my specific questions and concerns.
Can I make do with what I have plus a couple of extras?
What kind of hose do I need? Where to get it? Connectors?
How long of hose do I need?
What kind of gun do I need? Pressure washer gun or designated soft wash gun?
Should I just visit pressuretek and go with one of their kits?
X Jet a possibility for roof cleaning?
Like I said, I’m extremely intrigued about roof cleaning because I feel that my market area would just eat it up.

Sorry wish i could give out some advice but roof cleaning not in my wheel house.

Any roof cleaning guys want to help out @Indyres with some advice

I built mine for under $300. 1 “container” 1 short hose, 1 water transfer pump (i went with gasoline not Electric), 1 long hose and a spray gun. It works great. For roofs with gutters i use a chlorine base and for roofs with out gutter and foilage i use a hydrogen peroxide base cleaner. If you keep it simple theres less to break. Just spray the roof dont flood it let it dry for 45min or so at that point all the chlorine has evaporated and then rinse, repeat. This stuff is easy just take care of plants and soil.

By spray gun, do you mean pressure washer gun? If so, how do you attach a pressure washer gun to a 5/8" hose? I want to be able to use my extra wand but need help with the fittings.

Cut the ends off the hose attach a quick connect that fits your wand with, wait for it, lol HOSECLAMPS!

12.5% bleach will tear up a pump so be sure to rinse it well after every use.

I’ve searched for a quick connect at Lowe and Home Depot. The only quick connects they sell fit the pressure washer hoses which is 3/8’’. When I put the 5/8’’ hose over the 3/8’’ fitting, there is too much slack in the hose. Should I wrap the quick connect in something to make it fit better?

Have you tried tractor supply’s camlock fitting I love them and use me for tons.

Do you have a pic or two that you’re willing to share of your setup.

For sure i just got home and am worked. Beer me. Ill take em and post em am

Sounds good. Thanks (visual learner here.)

For sure me too. All these roof cleaner guys think they’re special and want to sell you their “secrets”.
The secret is that its really freakin easy

Most setups are easy to build when you have plans (design) or better yet pics.

Ugh sorry dude…did you figure this out? Here is something u can understand (hopefully, if not I’m sure its me). 1 5 gallon bucket 1 1hp sump pump (electric) with a male hose end 1 hose 1 high pressure squirty thing. Run a hydrogen peroxide based cleaner…go to town!
