Did you start your busines from nothing or buy an existing?

i quit my job and started our business from scratch december of 14. i worked it alone for a year (grossed 49k) during which a local competitor turned friend asked if i’d be interested in aquiring his business when he moves out of the area, i said yes. 1.5 years into my business he and his family moved away and we took over, this provided the base for my friend/business-partner-in-name-only at that point to come on full time. the business we bought probably represents about 25% of last years gross and will likely account for that or less this up coming year.

Started from the ground…now we here!!

I quit the they guy I was working for …(he wasn,t the most pleasant to work for)…I went to the printer ordered some flyers, paid with a rubber check, passed out he flyers with help cause my car was junk and made enough to cover the check…A year later I bought a commercial route to keep me through the winters…

3 times in 47 years 1970 to 1974 ($2,000.00 a year)1975-to 2010 ($180,000 a year)
2010 to 2007 part time lest then 20 hours a week ($60,000 a year)

I was born a poor black child. I remember the days, sittin’ on the porch with my family, singin’ and dancin’ down in Mississippi.

Has to start from scratch with a franchise handicap ( not in a good way).

Started from scratch but had 3 years experience working for someone else. 23 years.

worked for a guy for 3-4 years. Then college.

Started from “scratch” but was blessed. 20k loan (no interest, 4 years) and had some good connections. The connections were able to get us 10k off a brand new vehicle and off to the races.

2004…

Currently starting my business from nothing! Starting a Carpet Cleaning Business right now and then stumbled across some videos on youtube and inspired me to do window cleaning at the same time. Hope it works!

I bought the cleaning business that I worked for the two previous years. The previous focus was cleaning banks and offices as recurring services. There was no marketing.

Expanded the business into “day jobs” (WC, carpet cleaning, floor waxing/tile scrubbing). Gross in first year, 2016, was 1.6% of the projected gross. Picked up 3 new office cleaning recurring service accounts too. Expanding to Fairbanks, Alaska this spring so I can take working vacations to see my grandson.
