Di resin storage

whats the best way to keep di resin?

Just keep the bag that it came in sealed and stored in a dry cool place if it’s in the tank just keep the tank closed it has a long storage life

Wondering what happened to my resin then. This last tank I let creep up to about 11ppm so it was time to change it. Working on the same batch of resin that was in last tank and I can’t get my tds below 24ppm. What could’ve happened that’d make it not filter like it should?

It could be that it is channeling which means the water is taking the path
of least resistance. Shake the tank and that usually fixes it.

may sound stupid but are you positive everything is back in place properly, washers, screens, resin packed tightly etc

Yes, channeling is certainly a possibility. Another thing I’ve found is by putting a ball valve before the tank and turning the flow down a bit, the water passes through the resin slower (has more dwell time) and gets the tds lower. People rarely need all that water flow that comes out of just a DI tank.

Tried the shake. No go. I’ll be packing a little more in today to see if that works.

Pretty much positive. I’ve checked it all twice. Seems to be in place

It is possible your resin has gone bad. Not a common thing but if you are not getting results from the suggestions that would be the next course of action.

thanks John and everyone else. couldn’t get it any lower, thinking my resin is bad. Hooked up the ro to drop the tds. Works for now until the new batch comes in.

??? you have ro but did not have it in line!! why not? last year i used only ro didn’t spend a dime on resin.

I was doing some higher work, disconnected r/o. Found my tds to be High with just the resin but it shouldn’t have been bad yet. was hoping to find a culprit.

That is awesome! whats your average tds in your area and were you pulling 000 out of the ro?
