Dear window cleaner in Cambridge MA

I had better things to do today than resurface both sides of 4 doors. And I hAve better things to do tomorrow than resurface the 4 doors in the basement. Thanks for the hefty paycheck but if you paid attention this could’ve been avoided. The customer wouldn’t tell me your name but if I ever find you I’m going to take your razor away.

It probably was not a real window cleaner. If it was the doors only, maybe the home owner or a friend doing work for them did it. Did they just replace the doors? Maybe it was the contractor.

“better things to do”

what is better than making money?

It was the window cleaner.

Doing a service that I prefer to do. I like glass restoration work and the money but I feel like I did when I was a kid and my mom stuck me in the corner, stuffed up against the wall

I hear you. Was going to elaborate but I can be long winded.

When I was being uber positive this morning I was primarily thinking of many of our early years. I can remember exhausting all my resources trying to strum up work and then just starring at the phone waiting for it to ring.

Believe me, the last thing my inner child wants to be doing is working. Favorite 2 weeks of the year and frankly think the world should take it off just for me.

Doesn’t sound right to me 75% of window cleaners believe they are above the glass manufacturers care conditions and use a blade and blame the glass… and DOORS REALLY? if anything was gonna scratch is the tempered glass doors…

There was not a lot of details about the job so I was speculating. The home owner won’t tell you who did it and it was only on the doors. We see all the time where contractors and painters scratch up the windows with blading. If all the windows were cleaned and blared it stands to reason there would be more scratches then on the doors.

Unless this lady really hired a window cleaner for 4 doors.

We all see it and if they wont tell you then it was probably HER or her husband!

So simple to just wet the label or use googone to remove these but so many dont realize the damage thats looming with dry scraping of anything

Or they cleaned all of the windows and the tempered doors were the only glass that was scratched

like i said 3/4 of window cleaners still think they are able with their ago old methods to scrape tempered glass wet or dry , YOU WILL SCRATCH IT.
If you still think you can use a blade on tempered glass, the scratches you leave are YOUR FAULT! YOU ARE LIABLE!!!

The problem is NOT just tempered glass. It is much greater than we have been lead to believe. Read my article in my blog www.glass-smart.blogspot.com “Glimpse of the Ghost Particle”. It will open your eyes. I couldn’t sleep the night I did the research and wrote it.

I’m new to the game, but at this point I think I’ll throw away my razor. Why risk it on any glass? Is there any scenario where scraping glass is worth the risk?

Last Wednesday we completed a scratch removal job at a new car dealership. 26 8’x4’ butt glazed commercial partition panes, mostly full resurface, both sides. I don’t know who the window cleaner was, but he’s no longer insured, I know that. This was the first time we dealt directly with an insurance company for payment.

One of my dealerships rebuilt 4 years ago. I got a call from the GM that the GC wants me to do the construction clean.
It was the middle of spring so I was slammed went An talked with the GC he says no worries I’ll just have my guys do it
The first time i went to do the maintenance cleaning I couldn’t belive my eyes. I have never seen something so scratched up before I’m talking bad really bad . Not just one plate either. Many plates
So I called over the GM to show him that this isn’t from me an what the guys did. He took note of it an said ok
I made a big mistake I should of shown the owner an not even continue with my service
3 months later I get s call from the owner . You have to come in , An we need Tj talk I don’t know what your using but my window are all scratched up.
My heart dropped … Long story short I couldn’t eat sleep till the day after I finally was able to meet him an explan
He was ok with it he just wanted to make sure there wasn’t going to be more.
I was like what … yup he let them get away with it.

Seems like most of the the dealerships I have cleaned are all scratched to hell from either poor construction cleans or from the paint on advertising removal.

One of our dealerships has scratches from someone going at the glass with a green dish scrubbie. Offered to take them out but they werent interested. Thats what happens when you ask your cleaning lady to clean your glass
