Could somebody post a video on how to cut channels? I have used a hacksaw before and that takes forever. I might start using a grinder. Any help would be great.
Hacksaw works the best, just make sure you’re using a fresh blade.
once I cut the channel I’ll “sand” the edge down on the ground a bit… it’s a lot easier than you’re making it seem. I promise
This. I just get on a step and put my foot down on the channel and saw with a bit of force. Takes 10-15 seconds even on the thicker channels.
Don’t forget to sand the cut edge(s) of the channel(s).
Aw heck I am usually sawing Liquidator channels that have end clips covering the ends. Definitely sand anything that isn’t covered haha
I just made a french pane liquidator channel that is as small as it can get with the handles and clips taking up space

My best purchase for 2016. Perfect for cutting channels and other aluminium extrusions. The mitre guide is particularly useful. Comes with 3 blades. Wood, Light Steel and Tile…
I’ve used a miter saw. Nice if you wanna cut an angle into it.
I’ve always used a hacksaw . When I’m finished I’ll use a file to smooth out any rough edges .
What he ^ said!
Band saw works
Of possible note: Stainless channels are the toughest to cut by hand, followed by brass, then aluminum is pretty easy.
I actually just made a video covering a couple of cutting mods, so when it’s edited I’ll post it.
O yeah stainless are pretty tough. I carry a little hacksaw with a couple packs of new blades in the truck just in case I need to cut a few to size for cut ups.
Agreed! That’s why I’m not getting all excited about fancy electronic saws. KISS
Manual hand tools: The original cordless
I carry a dremel tool with a 1 inch cutoff wheel. It cuts thru the channels quickly and you can use the wheel to sand off any rough edges left on the channel.
Thanks everyone. The first time I cut a channel I had a really crappy hacksaw so I will try it with a new one. Thanks again and let’s go clean some windows
A baby hacksaw and a file have always worked best. I even use a round file to make sure no burs are in the channel. That way things are nice and smooth when changing/flipping the rubber.
