Commercial restroom cleaning

I know this is isn’t window cleaning related but has anyone tried this? I’ve seen companies go in and they just clean the restrooms like at restaurants gas stations etc. and it seems pretty good. Certainly would be good when the window cleaning slows down in the winter.

Hell no I would never do that unless it was a pressure washing job and I would make my helper do it

I raised two kids. The days of dealing with poo-poo that did not originate from my own rear end are long over.

I do janitorial cleaning in addition to window cleaning.I like to be well rounded and have extra things for back up.

Have you tried to sell this service? It might be a good add-on for your janitorial service.

I haven’t yet. I was thinking about trying it and see what happens

I started with Janitorial. Much bigger money than windows alone, but I enjoy the window side more. Commercial janitorial can hit 6 figures per building around here with 3-5 cleaners a night in them.

The thing with a janitor company is its not something you can do as a one man show, well you could but your not gonna have enough to live off imo, the going man hour rate for a janitor around here is $35/hr that is what a company can charge a business, take off overheads and wages you only make a few dollars an hour off each guy do while there is mega $$ you have a much lower profit margin compared to a specialized window cleaner.

As for the OP, once window cleaning becomes your primary source of work, you will understand how easy it is to clean a window and how bloody well you can get paid for such a simple task once mastered, why on earth would anyone in that situation consider that type of work vs the other add ons most add in the colder months, I’m in winter myself and I am busier than summer with mostly WC and PW.
I would never clean anyone else toilet other than my own…I’m a Professional Window Cleaner, if you think that is odd I would find it odder someone who called them self a Professional Window Cleaner would clean toilets for extra money.

I cook , I clean , I do laundry , I put out the garbage , I cut the lawn … I DONT DO BATHROOMS.

but hey if you can make mioney doing it , an don’t mind the dirty job that it is , then who are we to say.

The problem is they will want that cleaning all year round. Let us set the scene:

You are in a truck stop restroom one sunny May morning and are trying to unclog the worst toilet you’ve ever seen. It is a brown mountain and it looks like people just kept using it even though it was impossible to flush. You just ripped your gloves on a sharp surprise hidden in the bowl and start bleeding all over. You curse loudly.

Suddenly your phone rings and you answer the call with your free hand. It is a new customer in the rich part of town. She needs $1000 worth of windows done right now for a wedding because her flakey Craigslist cleaner bailed on her. You tell her unfortunately you have your hands full and she hangs up.

You begin to sob.

I’m a cleaning service company so I handle all cleaning types and I don’t mind. I make good money in janitorial and window cleaning. I’ll do whatever cleaning that will pay my bills and take care of my family that’s my only concern. Business owner is my title and I’m cool with that. Thanks for the input tho!

I know there are companies that do that but I would just stick to getting more janitorial work than going after random bathrooms…unless the money was super good…

Every 100,000 sq ft building you get is almost $100,000/year for janitorial. Get a few of those and hire crews to clean them. MUCH MUCH MUCH easier to train a cleaner than a window cleaner. You can get 30 resumes in an hour on a craigslist post to fill positions. The only downside to commercial is when you lose an account, it is a BIG loss.

We used to service fast food restaurant bathrooms in the city throughout the week but dropped that. Not worth it…even billed out high.

We make $10/hr profit on each employee at each building with 30 employees cleaning each night M-F. $300/hr profit, average of 4 hours per employee, some part-time some full time. We use Janbid at each building when bidding to make sure all costs are accounted for. Super good bidding program (technically advanced spreadsheet) for Janitorial cleaning that covers all expenses.
It was only recently in the last 2 years that we branched out and phased out our current window cleaning company. They couldn’t keep a schedule and lied about doing jobs that weren’t done. They also had sub-standard work that I just wasn’t happy with.
We do it all. Janitorial, Carpet, Tile & Windows. The biggest reason is that our clients want a ONE STOP SHOP. They don’t want to have to call 5 different companies to maintain their facility. They want simplicity because they already have enough chaos going on being building owners. It can work it if you have the will to maintain quality work.
