Checklist for jobs

We have started asking the teams to collect more data. In the past this was a struggle now even more.

Anyone attach a checklist for jobs or days.

pane count,
screen/track count
roof type
roof pitch
tax rate and code
gutter linear feet
etc.

Definitely make a checklist of obsticles and ladder requirements, skylights ect… on my estimate sheets. There’s also a box to check for pita customers. Adds 50 bucks to the overall total. It’s all scribble on a blank piece of paper so the only person capable of reading it is me.

My work up sheets show windows per side of house - Front…Left…Right…Back - and also stacked if it is 2 or 3 story. Under each window diagram I mark for tracks, screens, excess dirt, hard water stains, etc.
Gutters get tagged per section as well. The customer never sees this. It is on a legal pad that I can refer back to months or years later so I mostly have a clear idea of the job when they call again.
I have started making notes when needed along the top or bottom of the sheet if any issues arise on the job.

I’ve been keeping all this info in my Google calendar. Trying to fit everything I can in there because a separate spreadsheet became too tedious to manage.

It a bad idea Dave

I ask my guy to take pics and send them to me. I can then enter information pertinent to the job or ask him later to explain the pic. I find he remembers to take pics more than he could remember to actually write down all sorts of data about the job. Plus it’s faster to take pics than to write things down, even if there’s a simple checklist.

A very long time ago before smart phones someone said a picture paints a thousand words. LOL
