Casement Windows (how to you price & clean)

Do you guys clean the glass and move onto the next window or do you crank open the window and brush off or wipe down the window edges and the bracket arms that open the window? How much do you charge for one casement window pane compared to one double hung window that has two panes?

EDIT
Do you guys include the screen cleaning in your price?

Yes, yes and yes… clean everything, especially the machinery… and charge about $8 a pop

Hey Chris,
Do you charge about $8 for a regular double hung window?

About $8-10 for tilt-ins, $10-12 for straight up and downs. Size of the window doesn’t really matter, the squeegeeing only takes a few seconds, its all the other stuff (screens, sills, tracks etc.) that take up the most time.

I’m asking the question because I’ve been charging half what I charge for a double hung and not going crazy cleaning the casement window in the opened position. I had lunch with another window cleaner and they charge the same price. So 2 casement windows would be double the price of 2 panes of glass on a double hung 1x1. Time is money and if they take more time…

We charge $5 per casement. We open the window and brush the loose debris out. We use Screen Magic to clean the screen. We charge about $11 for a DH w/ screen cleaned.

$10 for a side by side casement in and out. Window is cranked open, and cleaned in and out from the inside. Everything inside the frame is cleaned. If the cover comes off the crank it is taken off and cleaned along with the crank. Screens are cleaned with a brush and if need be cleaned with a soap soaked scrubber and tapped out dry. Screen frames are always wiped with a soapy damp cloth.

Hey Ray,
How does that casement price compare with your price on a double hung window with screen cleaning? Is one casement alone $5.00?

Hey Tony,
No wet cloth just a good brushing?

One customer I heard about wanted the casement windows opened and the frames wiped clean all the way around with a damp cloth in the opened posision.

So I’m wondering, how clean is clean? And how much will they pay to have a thorough job done?

Yes one casement is $5 plus the screen which I did not mention in the last post (sorry) screens regardless of what window they are on/in are $2.00. A double/single hung is $10.00. Don’t matter if the window tilts in or not.

It depends on how dirty they are. Most of our customers have cleaning people that wipe down the woodwork of the window as part of their service. As for the outsides when I use the wfp that takes care of them.

My price for casements is $5-$7.50, screen and frames included. For those on the low end of my new customer pricing and long-standing customers w/older prices, I’ll charge up to $2.50 per screen if they want it deep cleaned.
I charge double that for double-hungs.

$6 for glass and frames only and $10 for complete detail.

Man I am way cheap, and I thought I was on the high end…doesn’t matter the type, $5 per piece of glass in/out…That includes the frame and sill. screen dust off…water clean screen is $1 extra per screen…now all bets are off for storms and pellas executive series 12 to 25 per window.

Prices must vary with the cost of living in certain areas. I would NEVER get $700 for that house even if it had storms. If I did price like that I’d have like two houses.

I open and brush and vacuum in the same manner as hung or sliders.

My price includes screens.

Thanks for your reply Larry,
I’m trying to find out if people are charging more per pane on casements than they do per pane on double hung windows. Sounds like most of us charge the same. A pane of glass is a pane of glass.

Some guys around here charge more for two casement windows that crank out and have a screen on each one than they would for a double hung window with 2 pane of glass and a screen. I was told I it should be more. So I raised the question.

I think the 2 casements take more time if you do them right, including screen and opening them up for brushing than a regular window and screen.

PS
In my area we don’t have a lot of casements. We like the old fashioned colonial look of a 6x6 or 12x12 DH window. The window cleaners don’t like them it’s the home owners I’m referring to.

I’ve been door knocking over the past couple weeks and doing estimates on the spot bidding at 10 bucks a window regardless of size. Been getting a lot of scrunchy faces and hey thanks for the estimAte. Seems like pricing is all relative to the town and what they paid last time.
