Business Failures

That’s a nice touch and very generous.

My mistake so far and I’m still working on it, is the back side of the business.

I’m happy with everything that I am doing so far. Made some pricing mistakes and still learning from it but that isn’t an issue at the moment. By the end of my first year, my pricing was decently where I want it to be. This year will be better.

Back to my biggest problem - procrastinating on the office work. I have a sun porch that is half painted. My office…Ya…I don’t have one and my stuff is everywhere.

By spring, I BETTER have my office set up and get my shit organized because I can’t have 2 years worth of stuff to go through.

I feel stressed thinking about it lol. Things will be smoother when I actually have a place to do my work and have designated spots for things.

Advice - organize the back end before jumping into work. Sure, clients were happy and everything was done but now I have unnessacary crap to deal with.

Smooth sailing from the beginning is key.
You don’t realize how much stuff you have laying around.

At least, I’ll be prepared in ALL areas before jumping into it full time!

that’s how I felt about taxes last year and after having done it last year and preparing early this year it was a lot easier.

Exactly! Smart man. Can’t wait till this part is past me

Thor- Just wanted to let you know that through out the day I have laugh at loud thinking about your experience w radio advertising. I have the mental image of you pulled over on the side of the road, staring down at your cell phone just waiting fo fit to explode with customer calls…and nothing- Good Stuff- LOL Classic!

Oh you’re not alone, you should have seen my wife that day when I got home!

I had warned her not to call me that day on pains of death should she
violate my law and when I told her how many people called me she was crying
from laughter for about an hour.

I love that woman.

its funny to go back through and read these posts. I was so worried about this customer. Within a month of this post they actually went out of business and solved the problem for us.

One of my clients in in one and tried to get me in and after explaining the requirements I had to pass. Like many others on hear I get a ton of calls for mags here in Vegas and even met with 3 different guys about it but it never felt right. Reading here is helping me weed out the bad options. Thanks.

@Gaz This is why I can’t say what my biggets failuyre thus far is (9 months into this) because I’m making new ones faster than I can resolve the old ones!!! lol

@Samuel Could not agree more. BNI was a major waste of time and money. One of the owners of our family biz sent me to BNI for 2 years even after being advised by a former president of the IWCA that its a bad investment for window cleaning companies, wasting the company’s resources. It’s just not the best fit for our industry.

My phone rings off the hook. Not with customers or prospects. Since I got a business license, every fly by night scammer has rung my phone off the hook. Credit cards, taxes, jail time, call now or you will lose your chance…on and on, 8 o’clock at night. I yell at 'em, “TAKE ME OFF THE LIST AND DON’T CALL BACK!!” Then they just pass it on to some other scammer. Love being in business. Guess I’ll go clean some windows now so I can pay the phone bill to enable the scammers. They gotta make a living too.

I’ve got probably 200+ numbers in my blocked call list now. It has worked to cut down on those calls a lot. I still get a couple a day from new numbers, though.
