Thorogood boots with soft waffle soles are my favorites. Upside is they have a ton of cushion and stability, and the thick leather uppers are durable as heck.
Downside is they are not quite as grippy as skate shoes on a roof. Also, much less easy to slip on and off so I need to keep my little blue shoe mittens on me at all times.
I used to wear used tennis shoes. Then I started wearing Keen sandals (for only $60 at amazon!!!), they are waterproof (of course) don’t slip and mainly my feet BREATH! Not to mention easy to put on.
I bought these recently thinking they would be perfect for window cleaning with being waterproof and all that jazz! They are great for keeping water out but the downside is my feet sweat in them as they are not breathable which in turn leads to me having sweat patches on my socks at the end of the day and those parts of my feet are techinically wet!!Also the grip on them is not great either slid on a roof the other week but luckily i was sliding into the valley in the middle of an extension at the back of house, had i been on the other side of that roof i would have been down on the deck.yes there was a small bit of algae on the roof tiles but nothing major. They are steel capped which is another reason i bought them as i figured they would be handy for any painting or patio laying jobs i pick up now and again.I always used to just buy cheap hiking runners as they were breathable and had great grip but always got wrecked or fell apart after a couple of months.Thought a bigger investment would be a better option…oh how wrong was i ha ha.
I tend to wear these exact pair of work shoes. They are specifically designed and passed my current companies health and safety regulations(Mitsubishi Electric). They have steel toe caps and are anti slip. Oh and dirt cheap and last around 6 months.
