Best Work Shoes?

thats interesting ,PERCH FOOT, im wondering if its a medical condition ! i will surely get it,if i wear my current shoes long term.

here is a photo of a different shoe i bought for ladder work.made by HIMALAYAN , it is a proper work shoe,anti-slip sole and ceramic toecap ,ceramic shank and looks very pro . BUT BUT BUT , IT proved to be truly dangerous on the ladders, very poor grip, especially in the wet .

Jesse,
I guess perch foot is the real reason I got my Magnum boots. Awhile back I switched from Merrell to Keen boots. One morning I woke up and the pain in the arch of my right foot was so bad I could hardly walk.

I hobbled into the police uniform store like I was a cripple. My foot hurt really bad. I strapped on my new Magnum boots and was able to walk out with a limp. The difference in support was unbelievable. That was six months ago and my foot still hurts a little.

If youā€™re using sectional ladders wear good boots!

Wow, that sounds like a really bad case of perch foot! Iā€™ve had my calves cramp up really bad the next day, but thankfully Iā€™ve never had my arches sieze up. Iā€™m 31, and I can tell you that my body isnā€™t the same as it was at 21. Iā€™m actually stronger, I can bench press decent weight and do a lot of pull-ups but the recovery time is longer. I was never sore from working at 20, but now that Iā€™m in my 30ā€™s I can get super stiff just from window cleaning a couple of houses!

Mike, YOā€¦

Exactly my problem in the morning and getting out of the truck after a long drive !

I switched to flat sole shoes and I donā€™t get the problem to much anymore !

I like the perch foot terminologyā€¦A more technical term is plantar fasciitis .

Dange

Dange,

You said a flat soled work boot. Any particular brand or style? I was thinking of the lace up boots with the off-white kinda wavy sole that lots of construction workers use. I donā€™t like the vibram or hiking boot style cus they pick up pebbles and I donā€™t want to scratch s customers hard wood floors. Guess I should get some booty boots too. I used to wear the magnums and Hi-tech boots, but after 25 years as a cop and I donā€™t want the cop or military look.

Phil,
The construction worker boots have a nice look to them. Thatā€™s what I wore when I started up my business. Theyā€™re nice on the street but slippery on roofs.

Roofing boots work well, they have a stiff shank and good traction. They are heavy and expensive though. I had boots like this before - took a while to break in, but you can resole them. Lace to toe design cinches your feet up tighter so your feet donā€™t slip around.

Is everybody carrying skate shoes for window cleaners in their inventory. Probably not. Great idea WCR.

I was talking with a roofer and he said skate shoes are the ultimate footwear for safety. He also said you have to be crazy to walk a pitched roof wearing boots. He said it drives him crazy when he sees other companies running around roofs in boots. He wants to jump out of his truck a yell obscenities at them because theyā€™re stupid.

The flatter the sole the better. Skate shoes at a window cleaning supply store. Way to go WCR!

Skate shoes are great for walking on the roof but not great for your arches on the ladder. At least not for mine.

Weight: winner - skate shoes
Traction: winner - skate shoes
Durability: winner - boots
Feet safety: winner - boots
Agility: winner - skate shoes

Well dang it-- someone needs to hurry up and invent some skate-boots already. Just for us!

Btw- isnā€™t it 3 to 2 in favor of skate shoes?

Magnum boots are boots that think they are sneakers. They are light, have great traction and agility like a sneaker.

Like a boot they give great support but donā€™t last as long as good work boots.

Just read your post.

Magnum boots are skate boots!

I agree. They are about as close as weā€™re likely to get to ā€œskate-bootsā€. Though they donā€™t have flat soles, they are close.

Your right, duh! Iā€™d be a horrible judge!
new winner: skate shoes

I got me some Nikeā€™s, some Reebokā€™s, and some Jesus Slippers for when I am in Southern Mehico. I need some sunscreen.

I use an extension ladder with flat rungs so no problem. I also carry a couple pairā€¦one for indoor, one for out.

Hey guys Iā€™ve found something better than my magnum tactical boots. I believe the Red Wing 606ā€™s are better. Better support and they last longer. Iā€™m a storefront guy so I love them. I got mine in black.

I still use magnums a couple days a week because itā€™s best for your feet not to wear the same style shoe every day.
