I finally trashed my old pair of boots and decided to get some serious window cleaning footwear. I got these thoroughood roofer boots a few days ago. Their crepe soles stick to the roof like duct tape. They have reinforced sides, plus they lace all the way to the toes which helps you get them nice a snug so you don’t roll your ankle.
Dangerous Dave turned me onto these style of boots. He’s got the mocassain toes, though. I have had bad experience with the mocassain toes, they just aren’t comfortable in my experience.
Anybody else out there use roofing boots for window cleaning?
I think you mean “cougar paws.” Those look cool, but they seem like they are only good for when you are on the roof. I hear the pads wear out kind of quickly - you wouldn’t want to walk around on them off the roof because it will wear out the pads and they are expensive. The boots above are Thorogood Roofer Boots Style: 814-4233
I’ve been using “Korker” sandals with a removable sole. It has a variety of soles for different roof types. Asphalt, metal & wood shingle roofs. They slip over the shoe/sneaker and they work real good.
You are wearing boots in this heat?? Please do not tell me you wear knee socks. I wear Keen sandals, a slip resistant sole with a rubber toe. Good support, water proof and last forever. They make a winter version.
I looked at skater shoes, but I am 56 years old and they make me look like I want to be 20 again. My pants aren’t baggy enough lol. I went for Dange’s boots. Sears diehard. Love em.

Yes, I am wearing boots. But, then again I’m also wearing ups style shorts so it all evens out. I look like this minus the crocodile.
Over in the PNW it’s been fairly nice, the last few days it’s been in the mid 70’s and most of this month it’s been in the high 60’s…We did get a couple of 80 degrees days but I think that lasted 2 hours !

I dont know if they’re available in the US but you guys should try and find yourselves a pair of Dunlop Volleys. We can get them for under $20 in most large retailers (k-mart, target etc.). They stick like **** to a blanket no matter what your walking on! They’re light and comfortable and durable. They are so popular with tradies here in Australia that dunlop has introduced steel capped versions.
I’ve got a set that are 3 years old, and still going strong (not bad considering i got them on special for $12). I’ll throw pics up if I can find my camera (its been MIA for 2 months)
