Are sectional ladders lighter and easier to carry than extension ladders?

love that “half-piece”- that’s what we call it. indispensable. the 2.5 section setup is our most common length. and i highly recommend putting extension ladder feet on your base. the ones that pivot and have spikes. that’s the #1 mod in my mind, and for you piece ladder pro’s who don’t have them- trust me… they are to stubby sectional ladder feet what sectionals are to little junkers.

I agree with Caleb. The regular extension ladder feet are good to have on sectionals, especially for exterior work. We have two bases that we use. One is for exterior with extension ladder feet. And for interior we use the original rubber feet. They work awesome indoors on all floor types and they are easy to keep clean for using inside clients homes.

Good point on the rubber feet being easier to keep clean

Because the knucklehead who set up the ladder doesn’t have any money. They always target the deepest pockets.

i was picking up my multi ladder last year and the rung came off in my hand, if i had been up on it when this happened i would have fallen, should i not use ladders because of potential danger? we should all stop using ladders, and no one should drive a car or walk across the street people get killed doing those things.
shit happens, use your equipment properly, you can never guarantee something won’t go wrong.

This thread is a good read!

@cactus27 don’t expect a response from "MisterSqueegee."
But I’d BET he’s read your post.

Exactly! This thread rocks! I’m going from small pick up truck to Chevy Astro and was about to get ladder rack. Now seeing you guys are using and recommending these sectional ladders and some of you don’t use extension ladder anymore. I’m thinking about these ladders, just put them inside of van and use $ there instead, van would look cleaner too .)

Seems like 4 of 6’ and one 4’ ,some levelers and sturdy feet is set-up I’d use. I only use 20’ ladder. For highers I use WFP. (Btw that cheap $1k EZ-Pure caddy is awsome for once in a while use)

Anyhow. One thing I’m missing. How do you adjust to desired height? I know it is not as easy as with extension ladder lol
So you can use 4’ in those times. But still. You can’t be as accurate as with extension ladder. Sometimes every inch matters when it is tall window

Are you putting ladder (with V) on side of window if 4’ won’t do trick?

It’s more versatile in how it can be placed so that makes up for not being able to dial in exact heights like an extension ladder. Since you can place it on the frame and the ladder doesn’t get in the way, it doesn’t need to be as exact either.

And I’ve been doing this for 15 years with only 20’ in 99.9 % lol
That 0.01% I used 24’ ,which I’m about to sell as I went to WFP now (for 3 story too). How do you do you guys deal with different heights than sections can give you? Put it on side of window? Assuming that’s what that 4’ is for.

place it on a frame? that is scary

Nah that’s what that v-groove is for. It’s actually more stable than an extension ladder imo. At first i was very reluctant to trust it. Now i feel safer on it than on my extension.

Anyway, just get one. It’s one of the best pieces of equipment you’ll own.

As far as I’ve researched V is for being able to lean it to corner of side of window, etc

well I’m either gonna spend $1200 for drop-down rack and keep 20’, or $1000 for sectional ladder. Can’t afford both lol

Sweet. You’ll save $200 and have the best ladder ever.

I’ll put it this way. I’ve been using stack ladder systems for 10 years and if they somehow mysteriously disappeared, I would quit cleaning windows. It sounds really dumb, but I just get through a house so much quicker than I did when I used extension ladders. I can stack 4 sections in under 10 seconds. It’s a workout for either ladder system, but there’s something about having the SKILL to balance and stack these ladders. My customers absolutely love them and comment on how they are relieved they are that I don’t carry in large extension ladders. I live in an area where chalet roofs and geometric windows abound. And a lot of them are 4 section windows in tight spaces. I hated whipping around extension ladders.

This needs to be confirmed. It’s a big deal if metallic is now manufacturing 4’ sections.

I went to their legit site where I have purchased items before and received items. It only list 6 foot sections.

edit: The site in question does linked to the legit site. It just smells fishy to me.

if working with six foot sections were a problem that would be a real problem.

They’ve been around for about 100 years and they’ve been selling like hot cakes because everybody who knows how to use them loves them and can’t work without them.
