Any advice for starting a residential window cleaning business in October?

I completely respect this attitude.

I am ā€œnon intrusiveā€ almost to a fault.
-In pretty much ever aspect of my life

(Iā€™ll pass by an upfront parking spot and take the one midway down the aisle.

 • Iā€™m a grown/healthy man, let someone who needs it have it.)

If there were more people like us in the world, shit would be a lot smoother.
Instead itā€™s all about ā€œme.ā€

 • I was here first
 • I have a job to do
 • I gotta, whateverā€¦

Incidentally, I swear to godā€¦

I was looking at an Apartment way back.
And the leasing agent had an appointment with me, and didnā€™t tell the current, who chose not to extend.

She knocked- he answered
And the smoke came out like Cheech & Chong.

She looked back and waived her arms ā€œjust a little WEED, huh.ā€

I felt so bad for the guy.
That day, I WAS responsible for the buzzkill.

 • Iā€™m NEVER responsible for the buzzkill! :frowning:

I turned it into an anecdote, joking about how
I expected to find some dude pleading "just a minute"
when tapping his arm to find a vein, when it came time for her to ā€˜show us the bathroom.ā€™

I had to quote your entire post. This is how I feel. I always park in middle of parking lot. My wife hates it when she first met me. Now she appreciates it and compliments me weekly.

I forgot to mentions Iā€™ve had people be standing outside and I flier all their neighbors and have had them stop and bother me to ask why I skipped them, booked it!!

I canā€™t even begin to tell you happy that makes meā€¦
I seriously look around and feel like Iā€™m alone sometimes.

Like courtesy is something that has gone to the waistside.

Iā€™ll take that spot when I need it, and hope someone out there feels he same as I do NOW.

 • but right now, itā€™s not gonna kill me to let someone jump in line in front of me.
 • or hold the door for someone behind me.

I bet you are successful, just knowing this.
No shit.

People can posture about "courteous, attention to detail, etcā€¦"
But if they donā€™t have it in them, they honestly donā€™t know what it means.

Iā€™m keeping an eye on you, BlueLightning08 because I see where youā€™re coming from.
And I like it!

once you have the mindset that you Rreally want to do it, no half arsed attitude, you will be ok. by that i mean you are pounding the streets daily doing flyers calling in shops not ever sitting at home watching tv/reading newspapers in the daytime . a DAILY ON THE STREET effort to find work is whats needed to get your business rolling, for months on end

many times over in my area iv heard of startups saying ā€œtheres so much competition / iv put out 2k flyers and not a single biteā€- theyre already ready to quit . ok,so the flyers didnt work try a diferent design and this time dole out 4k

i started my own business october 2008 and got a trickle of work in that month from doorknocking and flyers i drew myself onto cheap paper . by Spring 09, once id got a toehold, i printed many 1000s of the same handdrawn flyers on equally cheap paper and eventually delivered tens o thousands

The great skill you will ever learn is the ability to sell. Consistent sales will drive your company. A good website will establish your brand, and give you some credibility.

Every day you will have to dedicate some timeā€¦at least a couple of hours to phoning businesses and knocking on residential doors. Do not let up!!
