Always complaining about the price

That’s great to hear Chad!

I like how you worded that.

Thanks man! She even gave me a hug when she saw me this morning. I had a good feeling things would go well

We need more posts like this…
Saying what was said.

Rebuttal work instead of "oh I just tell them “See ya. I only want to do this/ or make that.”

And before anyone tries to call me out… do a ‘search’ on me.
For years, I’ve ALWAYS been open with presenting what I would say

This is a great post, Garry because it gives a nice (specific)
starting point to absorb it, make it our own.

I agree. There are so many situations we are put in. It helps having something to use if you are ever in the situation.

I used to get rattled when people threw my prices back at me. I just have learned to stand my ground and have confidence in my price structure and what I offer. I would like it to be more sometimes because the work can get pretty tough, right? Other times I feel I should drop the price in some cases, but then figure it all balances out and keeps me in business. Besides - on the easier jobs the bushes grow and it’s not so easy anymore.

So true!

Did the windows on this customers house and all he keeps saying is - “The other company doesn’t charge as much as you.” “How do you charge, because your prices are more than that other company.” “The other guys are less than you.” But he also wasn’t happy with the other guys. It was a franchise and he has had them out twice. The last time the windows had a haze on it he said.
He also had a brick sealer out last week that got over spray on all of the nearby windows that I cut him a break on the price to scrape the effected windows. And he was still complaining about the price. Oh well, no big deal if I don’t do it again, but the hard part is done, so maybe I’ll do again in the fall.

Gave out 3 estimates got 1 out if the 3. Today

I’m glad I’m the guy making more than the more cost affordable guy

How long did that take you?

I gave on today for 225…really easy in/out w/screens and tracks…she went with the guy who’s gonna do it for 100, meanwhile here Iam doing an exterior for 194…that guy can have that…I don’t want to attract those kinds of customers

You always know you are too inexpensive if you get every job. I am proud of you for not discounting your price Mike.

Reminds me of a former client that sent me a text one day and said…“Chad, I am going to start having our handyman clean the windows.” I told her “No problem. Thanks for being a client over the years.” Two months later, she texts me again saying the handyman did not work out. And she was hoping to get back on. She knew about the waiting list.

I put her on the waiting list. it will be while before she gets back on

5 hours.

Cool. There are a lot of windows on that house

This is a huge house. Below the house is a cellar that runs under the entire house. It is like a whole other house under there! I have people with lesser houses pay more than he does. $462 exterior was fair I think. Nobody pays based on house value. They pay for what it will take to get the windows clean. He’s lucky I didn’t add in the garage.

Nice…this one took about 3.5

Nice. I had to scrape 20 of the windows that had brick sealer overspray on them like the one in the picture with the spots on it. Chewed up my time. Plus the back side had 6 huge sliders, second story windows, and a balcony I had to scale from the ladder to access.

Most clients do not realize how long it takes to get their windows professional cleaned. I had a client ask me one time…“How long will it take you to clean inside and out? About an hour?” I started laughing. I thought she was joking. That was when I learned the importance of explaining my estimates to them in detail. Especially cut ups! How it takes a while to clean each individual pane. Explaining the cleaning process in detail has helped me a lot. Just trying to create as much value as I can.

I agree with you. $462 is a fair price for 5 hours. Keep up the great work Garry!
